Winter Storage
« on: December 05, 2014, 09:05:43 AM »

I am thinking about using my dealer to store my bike this winter as they offer winter storage ranging from $40/month to $100/month depending on level of service i.e. oil change, detailing, etc.   Has anyone use this service before? good? bad?

Same in my area - Oct/Nov to May. $250 for heated storage - they charge the battery, change oil and do a brief springtime check over.  You can do the equivalent cost in mods, so I always have some work planned over the winter to defray the actual storage charge.

Not to get into politics but just food for thought.....Your profile info says you are from St. Louis.....with all the rioting nationwide do you feel your bike would be safe at a business? Most insurance policies don't cover loss or damage of your property in the event of civil unrest so if your dealer get's burned or looted you may not recover for your loss?   :nixweiss:

Not to speak for Born2Breakout, but I also live in the St. Louis metro area.  I would not be worried about storing at any of the STL metro Harley Dealerships.

There are no Nikes or liquor stored in Harley dealerships, they are safe from looting. :D

The Ferguson Unrest is really in a specific area on the north side of town. All of the dealerships are far outside that area.

By the way. Storing your bike in St. Louis?

What will you due of those rare but inevitable 70 degree January days? ;D

Thanks for making me laugh with the above comments.   No political bashing intended or down playing the incident in Ferguson.  But all I will say is that the Harley Dealerships are probably better protected than most people think and most definitely far enough away.   ;D

Don't forget about the beauty shop that was torched too. :huepfenjump3:

I hear ya!  But no way in heck will the bike be coming out now that salt was sprinkled on the roads this past Monday.  But with the ridiculous rain we are getting today there is a possibility :coolblue:

Why winter storage if you live in MO?

You don't get much snow or do you?

Just wondering... those that are seeking "winter storage" at their dealerships... are you doing this because you keep/store your bikes outside during the riding season? Only asking because if you have a place to store it indoors already why store it at a dealer. :nixweiss:
