Fellas,
This new system was adopted by some not riding geek that works at the design center that drives a Lexus LS. They were the first to do this and it works great for car owners............they have always needed keys to start, so when you leave the house, you grab your keys and off you go.........Pops has the one of the first Lexus' that had this feature and loves it.........no need to unlock the doors.......don't bother taking the keys out of the pocket to start the car......in short, the car knows the owner and loves him.
Now on to the Harley, I've owned many Harleys over the years, and can tell you that I carry the keys for my bike maybe 20% of the time (as I'm sure many others do too). I tell friends that you don't need keys to start a Harley and they are always suprised (make sense coming from cagers). If I am riding locally, you gotta be nuckin futz to screw with my bike while I'm in range. But the geek at the MoCo said in a high level meeting one day "Hey, wouldn't it be cool if each bike recognized his master and just unlocked???". I can tell anyone that has such system on their bike, DO NOT LEAVE THE FOB ON OR IN THE BIKE. The freakin low life scum sucking, freak of nature, spineless leaches that make a living stealing our rides will find out about this and take advantage.
If you are one of the owners that has the system, just make it a habit to take the keys with you same as you do when your driving your car.
