2015 CVO Streetglide Rider/Passenger intercom -Standard
« on: January 05, 2015, 11:16:10 PM »

Just picked up my 2015 CVO street glide under false deceptive advertising from Harley Davison and the several dealerships that I contacted and some that I put deposits to get the bike.
After calling Harley Davidson and speaking with level 2 Debbie was told this is not a feature available on the 2015 CVO street glide !
But it is mention on the owners manual and on the Harley website under specifications !

Does anyone know if a passenger intercom can be added as an additional accessorie for the audio boom box 6.5 that comes with this model and year ?
Really disappointed in being misled by the sales people and then the Harley Davidson website!

Any information would be greatly appreciated from the group!!

Thank you and Happy New Year!

Did you ever find the answer? I would also like to add a passenger intercom.

Your best bet is to go with a Bluetooth anyway. I have the Scala Rider and it works great with no wires in the way. BSR gets off and we talk while I park the bike! Hard to do with a cord.

You can buy everything you need to add intercom to the bike from HD, if you want, there was a kit for the older Harmon-Kardon bikes, I installed one of those, no big deal. Had to have dealer flash radio for intercom which was free.
Any good parts guy (Or GRC on this site) can fix you up with part #'s for what you need. It is not cheap because headsets / harness etc must be bought but, on older bikes, it was all plug and play, so hopefully it is on new ones as well.
FYI, I, and others have mounted the plug in the left side heat shield for rider and I mounted the passenger one in the front of the chopped tour pak on left, and made up a male/female connector so I could remove t/p. Works MUCH better than any of the Bluetooth units, and I have tried several of those inc the Scalia over the years, B/T is handy, no wires etc, but for everyday use the plug in HD stuff is the best. And nothing beats the radio muting when you talk.
Good luck.

I'd like to know if anyone has actually accomplished this.  What I've been told is that the Street Glide harness does not have the connectors for the rear headset.  To install rear intercom or CB you need to by a limited harness and re-wire the bike.  That seems extreme and I question if that's accurate.  But at this point I can't find anyone whose done it to verify it.

I added the CB module along with J&M CB flex antenna in fairing and harness was there and all plug and play ... no flash needed...

Spoke this past weekend with a parts guy at a Dealership and HD has not come out with the parts to add intercom for the passenger on the new SG's yet, only the older models.

Thanks.

Yeah, it seems the front unit is no problem.  The back one is just not practical.  I've looked at Bluetooth to pair them both to the same dongle connected to the headset plug but all the ones I've found only support one Bluetooth headset.  I've also looked for some kind of headset splitter, no luck there either.

HD Really screwed the pooch for those of us who use the com features on a touring bike.  Buy a limited or go away.  Well I'm getting closer and closer to going away for my next bike.  The fact that the unit is perfectly capable of doing what I want but they skimped about $15 in wire and connectors pisses me off to no end.  Add to that the stupidity of designing the unit so it doesn't support Bluetooth headset profiles. :stars:

I have an '08 Cuse3.  I certainly would've bought a new bike by now, but up until 14 they hadn't come out with anything that I haven't made my bike do.  Suspension, frame stiffening, lighting, engine tuning and I'm good other than the exhaust heat.  So now I'd buy a new one, but I either buy the same thing I've got or put up giving away features.  Screw it, I can just set that money aside to rebuild whatever fails on this bike and the MoCo can lose my business.

J, not sure about your bike but with the 665, I'm getting most everything through the Scala headsets. I did have to do a bunch of stuff wiring wise due to Moco's lack of the overlay on the street glide. I have XM, Navigation directions, phone, intercom, and weather alerts. I don't think that Ipod comes through but it does interrupt the speakers for directions etc. Phone only comes to the primary set on mine. BSR is cut out of the call. I have the simplest Scala because I only wanted intercom but you can get CB and such.
I'm very satisfied with it after trying another brand. Sound quality is good and it is removable from my helmet. I only use it on trips or with a BSR. By myself around local it stays home. I don't want to be bothered!! The 665 will still put the number on the screen. I'll stop if I want to talk.
As I said above, I like the wireless aspect. She can get off and help me find a spot to park or watch traffic for me while off the bike. We don't even use vox. The battery life last over a day with the intercom open two way all day long. My last system was wired and it was a hassle to deal with.

Just bought the Sena9x Bluetooth dual set so we'll see how well that works being unwired from the bike.

From every thing I have seen and read all you need to add is this kit HD 69200865 kit to use the Harley head set for passenger intercom it plugs into plug #280 in the fairing a lot of guys are using that plug for just a mike for voice commands I have also used the plug for a mike and know that it works it has all the lines for headset. I do not have a 15 manual to make sure that the 280 plug is still there it is on the 14.

I am  also working on an all wireless solution.  I am working on a setup with Sena headsets and The Sena Bluetooth Mic & Intercom wired into the #280 jack in the fairing have everything just need the time to get it installed and tested.

Would you explain what wiring modes you made to get the functions you describe above from the Scala headset?
