For some knowing how much they have spent can also be a deterrent to starting over again. :nixweiss:

Shhhhhh!  My mind does not need to hear that.  The voices are asleep right now.  They need to rest while I'm still trying to reel in that guy selling the red SERG.

So you're saying it's similar to a 12-step program for chrome addiction? :nixweiss:

Don-
I thought yours was stock.    :nixweiss:

Hubbard-
You don't need a CVO to respond to this thread.  Your's is an HVO..

Everyone else-
Your like me, don't want to know the total but have kept the receipts for our reasons.  The total doesn't matter anyway as we all enjoy riding and the sport and that's all that matters.  Anyone else wouldn't understand.

Knowing how much I spent customizing my 06' RKC is what justified me to buy my CVO Springer. I have much more $$$ put into my RKC than I would have spent purchasing a SERK and customizing it, and I still plan on spending more $$$ on building the engine of MY RKC. I figured that if I'm going to spend the money customizing, I might as well have a head start with the chrome goodies, buy a CVO bike and get the bigger engine rather than customizing a non-cvo bike and still having to replace/rebuild a perfectly good engine to get better performance out of the bike.

I keep receipts only in case the day comes that I need to prove something to an insurance company...  Short of that, I buy what I want for my bike, when I want it and don't really want to know or care what it adds up to...  It is my hobby and where I find relaxation and enjoyment.  It costs whatever it costs...  I don't hunt, I don't fish, ect...  I ride motorcycles... :2vrolijk_21:

I'll even add to it....  I don't own a country club membership, a camper, a boat, or season tickets to anything.  I don't gamble.  I'm home every evening with my family.  Every Friday, I buy a 12pk of expensive beer.  That's about it.

I keep mine too.  It's simple.  I come home and have a folder for everything.  I open the drawer, find the folder, and stuff the receipt in.  It keeps me organized, nothing more.  I can find anything I need in a couple seconds.

Have all reciepts and a spreadsheet. The numbers are scary :nervous: Kept mostly for insurance purposes.

Yep, same as Jim. Also keep the info for the future in case I ever part with the SERK and the next owner will benefit from the records.

Since I didn't give you a receipt for our deal, I know of some stuff you don't have accounted for Joe  ::)

Gary, I can actually do a pretty good running tally in my head.  I'm certain the overall total of money spent on the red bike is about 1500 bucks.  That's it.  That's all.  That's what my mind believes.  Not bad for all I've tricked it out :2vrolijk_21: .

It's amazing how easily the mind can be deceived ain't it Don - especially when you put your mind to it!

I keep receipts and a running total. It gives me the drive to go to work. Having an addiction for Harley is a lot of fun but a costley one.

OK, OK, I forgot about the fishing.  I only spend about $300/yr on gear and charters.  (OMG, that's a lot of chrome)  Good thing I don't keep fishing receipts.  I justify it all by not smoking.  That $6/day for cigarettes adds up to a lot of chrome also.

edit:  just noticed the hypocrisy of the above comment since I'm holding a cigar in my avatar photo.  My brother gave that to me during my daughters grad party, honest..... :nervous:

Maybe it might be cheaper to get a high maintenance FWB that has underlying concerns. ;) :huepfenlol2:
