OK! Thanks for the info.  I will keep very close watch on the mechanic while he is working on my bike.  I will also have them explain to me about the so call remapping when they perform that so call procedure.

This is the ONLY calibration for the bike... SERT has the other "Tuneable" maps..

I know that there were indeed stage 1 downloads available in 2007 that were street legal.  The dealer could download via digital tech.  they were charging 150.  For basic muffler air cleaner upgrades.  This is not the SERT.

I wouldn't argue with Shovelhead Bob about this. He's a SERT Tech. ;)

Look there is already a complaint on file with the NHTSA: http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/problems/complain/results.cfm

I would encourage *all* CVO owners whom had an issue to register their complaint via telephone or online.  With enough complaints they can take action, if MoCo will not voluntarily recall the engines the NHTSA will make them recall the engines!

"Government engineers analyze the problem. If warranted, the manufacturer is asked to conduct a recall. If the manufacturer does not initiate a recall, the government can order the manufacturer to initiate a recall."

Interesting reading on the NHTSA site.  The first link didn't work for me, but browsing around a bit from the second link found that there are 36 complaints about the 2007 FLHTCU, many of which are SE models.  Lots of complaints about heat, burns, motors falling apart over and over again, loud transmissions, etc.  Sounds like the MOCO has not properly addressed the issues with the new powertrain.

Hopefully they are fixing these problems before they ship my SEUC, which is now delayed 45 days and no message from them on when they might ship it.

Unfortunately, delays are common while solving problems is not.

Hopefully yours will be more trouble free than the others.

The distinction for '07 and later Digital Technician calibrations are: Street Legal calibrations (yes), Race or non-street legal calibrations (no).  Since the CVO bikes already come with the street legal stage 1 calibrations stock, the dealer doesn't have anything else to offer other than some updated versions of the stage 1 calibration released by Harley to address certain issues, like the torque smoothing calibration.  However, it is just an EPA approved modification of the previous stock calibration to address a specific issue.  It still has to comply with emissions regulations.

If you make any major changes to the amount of fuel versus air, your dealer will not have a legal "download" available from Digital Technician.  Minor changes will be handled by the closed loop system when the bike is in closed loop mode (at the 14.7:1 AFR), but over approximately 4000 rpm or 50% throttle the system goes to open loop.  This is were you may have a problem if your modifications cause a significant change to the AFR.

Those downloads are street legal, and would apply to someone with a TC96 with street legal mods or 103/110 street legal kits.  In the case of the 110 kit, it is the same calibration that the CVO already has.  If any dealer is charging someone with a CVO $150 for that download, I suggest you notify the fraud/bunko squad of your local constabulary.

There are no remap flashes for '07/'08's. They have their infamous heat control flash. and supposedly some kind of torque enhancement flash. But you can't get retuned with a flash anymore. Do you have a race tuner in your bike already? If not, they can't make adjustments to your bike that way anymore. Don't let them BS you! ;)

Hoist, you are absolutely correct.  My mechanic was on the up & up with me and after checking, he came and told me that there was no flash(remap) available for the 08 CVO's.  He suggested that I wait until the SERT becomes available to install the SE A/C.

Again, thanks for making me aware.  One huge advantage of the CVO website, "riders helping riders."  :2vrolijk_21:

Shovelhead Bob ,

How do I know if I have the download with the Idle Temperature Management System in my bike?  07 FXDSE

Will that system be active even with a power commander on the bike?

SB is no longer a member on the site. The EITMS download was an option done by the dealer at the owner's request. If you bought the bike used, then I'm sure the dealer could check the bike and tell you. I don't know if there is a way to get it through the diagnostics in the speedo.

Your dealer should be able to tell you if it has been enabled or not on your bike.   The only other way to enable it is to buy the SERT and when you load your map you have the option to enable EITMS.

I do not know though how the Power Commander will react if the engine goes into shutdown mode due to heat since that is controlled by the ECM.

Here is something else to consider.   If you were to have them put the new base download in your bike to enable EITMS it could be a different map than what is in your ECM currently and if that is so, your power commander map is based off your original ECM settings that is in there now.   There is the possibility if the download is different from what you have that you would want to have the bike retuned depending on how much of a change there is in the maps.

I have 2200 miles on my 2008 FLHRSE4 and have had no problems. Just put in the shop for Rinehart true duals and the new Harley race tuner.
