You know we've had several threads talking about WFO, Top Speed, Who's is bigger, better, faster etc and some folks have taken it for what it's worth and posted how fast, quick etc their bikes are and talked about the whole thing with " the need for speed " and others have posted cautionary tales or quips. I think at the end of the day, this is sort of like the phrase that we bikers like to throw at cagers " if I have to explain it, you wouldn't understand " I have been into going fast for as long as I can remember. I've paid a price too in terms of vehicular code violations of all types, higher insurance premiums and who knows, maybe even a few less years of my life from some of the more spectacular crashes along the way. Common sense dictates that as I get older, this has to end or at the very least lessen to situations where I have some control. The WFO runs in the desert are one thing, but lane splitting a SoCal Freeway at 100mph at rush hour is probably as has been noted, writing an invitation to my own funeral. The thing is that this kind of thing is something that's in one's blood. Look at some of the rather heated arguments we've had between some of our more ardent speed enthusiasts on the site. Basically calm, intelligent, decent folks hurling insults at one another. It's a passion and like all passions is something that is not always good and not always under control. As such, sometimes it is a few words from good friends that brings us back to reality. So thank you to those who remind us of life's mortality and yet
DUDE'S YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE MISSING !
I clocked 150mph on my 05 SEVROD according to the speedo on California S-2 between Anza-Borrego and Ocatillo Wells. And with no windshield and only a 3/4 helmet and shield. What a freakin rush. I had enough adrenaline in my veins to power an Abrams tank. Not much I can do at 53 with two artificial joints, a creaky heart and ragin arthritis that compares to that.
