They offer a full syn Vtwin motor and syn chain case oils...??

Trouble is, without anecdotal evidence from others you respect, hard to judge how good...

I'll be moving from Mobil 1 Vtwin to Redline 20-60 motor oil next service.
Redline trans with shockproof is in the gearbox now and Redlline primary chaincase with MTL is in the primary.

Can't get Mobil 1 V-Twin here, so have tried just plain Mobil 1, the car stuff, but it was way to thick when cold.  Been running Amsoil for a couple of years, seems OK.  Reline MTL in the primary, and Shockproof heavy in the gearbox.  However, just viewd my stocks, and our of Shockproof heavy, so have ordered the V-Twin stuff this time (will stick with the MTL and Amsoil, plenty left of those.)

Viscosity in a oil weight is the same, the SAE weight is a standard, so if you buy the same weight there is no difference. The motorcycle oils have slightly more of certain wear additives that are restricted in cars because of catalytic converters. I run the regular Mobil1 in my bike, test have shown that there is no noticeable difference in wear between the two.

Well, we have cats now so how does that impact their use in a cat bike?

Redline V-Twin Syn 20W50 (winter), 20W60 (summer) in the crank case.
Redline Heavy Shockproof in the tranny.
Amsoil Super Shift Syn ATF in the primary.

Not sure, I sent a note to Nightrider, they weren't sure either! But the amount they are over isn't a lot, just enough to call it motorcycle oil, and charge you more money, so probably still within safe limits.

Yes, I know - been building engines over 40 years!  ;)  What I should have said was, instead of the Mobil 1 V-Twin, which is not sold here, I went for the grade of car Mobil 1 that I could find. It was unsuitable as I said.

Do any of you test your oil for analysis before it's changed?  Where do you send it?

Amsoil offers mail in analysis, but rather pricey (about $25 a kit).

Never use Syn 3 in your scoot.....PLEASE  :soapbox: I had my clutch go bad on a bike with 35,000 miles and after doing some fact finding.Pretty much of what was said is syn3 is bad for our bikes.I found that our clutches are rated for around 100ftlbtq and the best se clutch is close to that so I went with a enegy one clutch and their tech said I cound pretty much use any oil but syn3 and his 1st choice would be bm quickshift, then type-f auto trans, and harley primary oil.I just think it's crazy that mo co put stuff in our bikes that would contribute to problems when we have some they can't control.Ride Safe JDO
