I picked mine up from the dealer today. I like the fact that I now don't have to turn the AVC off and back on for it to play louder at highway speed. However, it does not work when you come to a stop which I don't mind because I always turn my volume down manually all the way when I do. Just confirming it doesn't work on 4 bars. I'll try it on 2 next ride.

Rob
Rob, I'm sure you're aware (but just in case) the lower right hard button beside your screen is a Mute/Power button. Maybe this is how you manually turn down your volume. If not, it may be an option for you?

Try it with avc adjusted to #2 position. higher positions do not work

I attached a picture of where mine is set. Mine works. I'm not sure what everyone is considering 1,2,3,4 etc.

Your picture would be set at four, as four bars illuminated.

3 and 4 work fine with the new download. I thought they did and I verified it this afternoon. EXCELLENT AVC system in my opinion. Better than my Cad.

Yes. Thanks. That is how I considered it. I am just trying to remove any ambiguity in this since there are so many complaints.

I agree CVODON. I have also personally used it with three bars, and have had it at four bars for several 300+ mile rides. It has worked flawlessly for me since the update.

I don't use the mute button, just the volume switch on the handlebars.

When you guys say it's a great working AVC, does that mean it gets louder on its own and quiet when you come to stop?

Absolutely! When I come to a stop (it pretty much needs to be a complete stop) it reduces the volume. When I take off ( almost immediately at around 5 MPH) the volume increases to the setting. In addition, while riding if a song comes on too loud I may reduce the volume, or increase the volume if the particular song is too quiet, yet when I come to a stop AVC still works correctly.

Well just in case... I thought of something that may be causing people issues. From what I recall when setting/deciding on the number of bars it seemed to me it may be important to have a song playing with the volume set (I did) as you would like at stop position ( not sure about this ) and then adjust the number of bars increase in volume for the level used after increasing in speed. I am not sure about this, only that I remember it took some fiddling around with the levels the first time learning how to use it. After I set it though it has worked correctly.

Hope this helps.

Keep in mind it takes more initial volume for XM than it does for AM/FM. Not sure why but my car s the same way as was my SERG. So although I personally am very impressed with the operation of the AVC it still seems to me they should be able (HD/Ford/GM etc) to make a radio that plays all signals at the same volume.

If they ever get that figured out, then maybe they could help Comcast do the same thing with TV stations.  One might think it should be pretty easy these days with the electronics we have, but somehow Comcast can't do it (or more accurately I imagine, they just don't try).

I'm still intrigued by the disparity among users as to if the system works as intended or not.  I can't believe there are that many people who don't know how to set the options, or how to properly download and run the updates.  There has to be something else going on.

Jerry I thought the same thing. I've written code for software, created websites and so on. I assure you that I properly downloaded and installed my update to my bike properly. I was excited to see if my AVC worked! I assure you it did not.

Saintnick did it work before the download if you turned it off then back on, like everyone else had to do? If so have you tried this after the download? To my knowledge everyone's AVC worked prior to the latest download if you turned it off and back on, everytime you started the bike.
And Jerry is correct, it amazes me how many folks complain about issues and as you read the complaint you know they didn't read the manual and or just didn't understand it because a setting exists to do what they are asking.

CVODON yes it worked before the download but I had to reset each time I started the bike. It's the same now which it was supposed to be fixed. I have to reset it each time I start the bike by bumping it up or down then I hear it click in. Meaning the volume adjusts. Is it the same for you before and after the download?

So true CVODON!!!
Quite honestly I have wondered if some of the posts in this thread are from owners of "other bikes" or just someone who wants to yank my/our chain for having HD's!!! I'm not surprised though that some are having sincere problems. Of course, as mentioned by several in several posts, go the the dealer and insist it works. Several of us have the same hardware and it WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A software engineer would never say something like that... it is redundant. Even someone who has written even a little bit of software would not say that!!! But here I go again getting pulled back into not having the patience to deal with complaints. I'm really looking forward to an epic ride... seven work days and counting!!!! Jerry I have no idea how you do it. You must be retired and not so stressed out like me, but still you are excellent at it.  :2vrolijk_21: Thanks!

Nope, after I installed the update I adjusted the AVC to the 4th bar and it has not been touched since and it works everytime now, up and down, stop and go. And it works good.
