Nice bump

I've been in the AF for almost 24 years now; was just selected for E-9 a couple months ago. Currently stationed in Japan... hoping to hook up with my SERG in Hawaii next!!

Army; 24.5 years still on active duty, Fort Campbell!

Brings back memories.  Is Clarkville Base still there or have they tore some or all of it down by now.  Was with the 101 in NAM (Had 2 choppers blown out from under me in the same day. All 6 of us made it back stateside ) and then the 100 stateside also.  Know most of Campbell like the back of my hand.  Some of the trees probably still have parts of me from being drug through trees on Stabo Extraction exercises.  Rookie chopper pilots.   Got out of the Army after 2 1/2 then spent 21 as 11B40 in National Guard.  Got called up a couple of times.  Knees finally could not take the heavy rucksack anymore and got out.  Get my knees shot every 6 months now but life is good.   Some of the best years of my life.  I have never laughed or cried so hard than those years and would not take a dime nor millions for the experiences.   I would do it all over again.

Air Force for 25 years, all in aircraft maintenance.  It has been a great ride and I don't plan on retiring until I hit 30 years.  Even when I retire I want to stay associated with the military family.

My wife is a crew chief. Was on the 135 (Plattsburg/Fairchild), then the 10 (Travis) and now the 130 here.

Man this thread was really buried. Maybe if it had something about a cheerleader or mufflers it would stay fresh.
Air Force, 75-80ish. Just missed the rice paddy by a couple months but no one told that to the trainers. I was AB pararescue, or as we called it, a PJ, para-jumper.
Had and absolute blast, but it seems so long ago. I don't know how I did it. If someone told me now that I had to jump out of a plane at 34,000 ft, at night, with scuba gear on, swim to depths that would crush a beer can, retrieve an item(s) of importance and evac and be back in the rack all within 24 hours, I'd say your nuts. But,did it. And we got some real cool toys to play with, I miss my watch the most, nice Tag.
End of the 70's was a strange time in the military

I was a land based Squid. VR-52 was my squadron. Fixed wing transport. I was Aircrew Survival Equipmentman..........Otherwords a P.R. Parachute Rigger. We always guaranted our work, if it dose'nt work bring it back. Anyway, only worked in the loft for short stint. Our squadron needed aircrew,so all I needed to do was get a waiver to go aircrew and I did. When I first came aboard the first person I ran into was the XO. He shook my hand and said welcome aboard and do you want to fly? Hell yea!!! Sir. After that did all the training and got my Aircrew wings 6 months later. We flew C-118s 4 engine gas prop planes, check the gas and fill the oil. Eisinhower Airforce 1 vintage. A couple years later we transitioned into the C-9B...........DC-9s. Had really good duty. 1982-1988.

My wife is presently a Lt Colonel in the New Jersey Army National Guard 26 years, Quartermaster corps. Desert Storm Vet. Proud as hell of her.
