The Mackie 598s are great cams. I dang near went back with them. At only 9.8 comp they really worked. At this higher compression they would probably do even better. Very quiet for that much lift. Hit hard on the bottom end.
I was able to get the 662-2 at a good price so I went with them. I really do like that 598s tho. Stroker (tuner) says they a damn good cam also.

If I remember correctly Dave recommends 10.25:1 or close to it. But I've used them down close to where you did too. Always pulled hard and pulled early. The 103 to 107 build that I did on the red bike used that cam and was probably the best running combination for street use I ever put together.
My old Road Glide is right now slowly collecting parts for a top end overhaul. It'll go to 98" with heads and will use that cam with the other work planned around them. Had thought that would be its winter project this year but haven't had the time. Sometime sooner than later though.
