I keep reading about all the 110 problems here and figured it was just other people, not me--I thought HD really had most of the bugs worked out. Then I noticed a slight ticking on startup but it immediately went away. Then on this trip from central California to Los Alamos, NM I thought I heard a slight tinny noise once in a while, maybe like a loose exhaust shield--figured I would check it closer when I reached my destination. When I pulled in to Albuquerque at the motel, there was such a clatter from the lower end of the motor I didn't start it back up, had it towed to the Dealer Monday morning for diagnosis. I thought maybe cam tensioners. They kept going deeper until they found the crank bearings had failed--18009 miles. Of course, cams, lifters, etc are all bad too. So a new motor on order. Then a couple days later, they called me and told me as they continued dismantling the primary side they found the stator bad too and it was back ordered from HD. Knowing I was traveling and needing to get back home, they found a stator at another dealer and are having it over nighted. Maybe Friday or Saturday I'll get to head home instead of being home Thursday like I planned. This top of the line bike has already had wheel bearings and radiator work done, what else can I expect now? My 2000 CVO Road Glide had to have 4 motors--I keep them stock and ride easy but I ride a lot. I guess I should have learned my lesson with the first one. I had my first Harley in 1960, these new ones are much higher tech and have far more problems, I think I'll rethink my bike choice from now on. I do think this dealer is working very hard to get me back on the road.
