If I hit a big-assed pylon next to a gas pump I will never admit it to anyone here.  NEVER.  ANYONE.   NEVER.  Will just say I sold the trailer.

But Don, now you can never sell the trailer because we'll just assume you got pyloned!

Jerry or others.  Just realized this little bastard doesn't have a spare tire.  I realize that the heavy duty six ply tires would actually run flat for quite awhile if need be.  But a spare tire and wheel would give you redundancy for a bad bearing as well as a flat tire.  Do you carry a spare or risk it?

Spare has been on mine since new. Tires just get replaced I'm on my 3rd set approx. 60,000 miles total on the trailer. I have always changed them early CHEAP INSURANCE. Regrease the bearings every 3-5000 miles but I have 8" tires.

Never have carried a spare it is a waist of space and weight. ( You don't carry a spare Motorcycle tire with you do you?)  ;D

The one of the Main Difference smaller wheels turn Twice as many times harder on the bearing and more heat and wear on the tires.

Guess I bought a trailer.  2004 Bushtec Roadstar with GT lid and fenders package (I don't know for sure that I know exactly what that means but it sounds good).  Lots of other bells and whistles added to it at time of delivery including several interior storage pouches and some lighting that are more than just esthetic additions.

Trailer has reportedly been pulled on two trips for a total of about 1100 miles.  It's new price should have been $3500-3600 assuming I'm recognizing all the add-ons.  The gentlemen was initially asking $3200.  We settled on $2800 this evening.  Given what I've found out about these things in the last 10 days or so that seems at least a fair price if not a very good one.

Assuming nothing intrudes on his or my schedules it will be picked up next Thursday.  I can't think of any reason not to use it on the trip to Nelson.  Suddenly I can schlep more stuff than I ever have before.

Good Choice and don't forget to get on of these http://www.jpcycles.com/productgroup.aspx?GID=3D295022-9732-4307-B3B1-3D555753DF53&search=trailer+wiring&store=Harley&page=1

As far as backing Up - You will use the same method you have been (Fred Flintstone) way.

No, but it's also not an option.  Here it actually is.  The part would be small and there would be space for it.  Since they use tubes plugging them and moving on won't be an option like it might be on the bike.  Since they're six ply just breaking them off the wheel would actually be a major pain in the butt.  All that in play, at least considering the option.

The red bike has a similar interconnect coupler already on it. Was supplied as part of the lighted saddlebag latch kit.  I can jump from it and never touch the main harness.

Sold on the idea of isolating the harness though.  So want to see just what the "isolation kit" that Bushtec offers is comprised of.

I'm just not sure yet Wayne.  That's why I was asking.  Thanks for the good wishes on the new toy.  Really am looking forward to seeing just how flexible it can be.  Lots to learn.

Warning about the cooler,  As you add ICE Don't forget to always drain the excess water off ( it will sneak up on you) - the Added weight of extra water will increase your tounqe weight without your thinking about it.  Causing you unexpected problems if you really need to stop in a hurry.  Just another thing to learn but eaisly over looked.

Had generally wondered just how much one dared fill that mounted as far forward on the tongue as it is.  Good advice.  Thanks.
