It would appear that based upon the comments made here that the King Tour Pak is the way to go...I had been reviewing the options, however the mind is made up.

Now for the ordering...w/ or w/o spoiler, rack, what backrest, change the stock seat?

You know the stuff...options?

For those of you with colder weather, please pass quickly...68 here at 10:00pm

Got home a few minutes ago and UPS had left a nice large package on the front door for me.  Big beautiful two toned cherry King Tour Pak.  Arrived in perfect shape.  Had ordered it online only about three weeks ago (I think it was the 25th of October or somewhere thereabouts).  So it got painted and shipped through the system in a hurry.  Amusing part is that the tour pak arrived in less than a month from date of order while the spoilers have been on order for almost three months now and still not arrived  [smiley=nixweiss.gif] .

It's not like it's a big deal in any way.  Just odd how the stuff goes through the various paths sometimes.  Does anyone even know if paint-to-match work on the spoilers and paint-to-match work on the tour paks are even done in the same place?

Oh well, I'd ordered a backrest from Corbin to match the seat only just a couple of days ago thinking that there was still weeks left before the tour pak would get here.  Guess it's a good thing I ordered it when I did  [smiley=thumbsup.gif] .

Gotta love new parts  [smiley=beerchug.gif] .

Mobe and Twolanerider need to get photos of their bikes together.  That would be a first on this site.

O' fender; The seat is the HD sundowner seat for the road king classic. I really like it. It has a little bit firmer foam in it, and is very comfortable on long rides. The front of the seat doesn't splay my legs out, so it is still an easy bike to flat foot. I took several seats out to my bike at the local HD dealer and I liked the looks of the bike with this seat the best of the ones I tried. The little braided skirt and the road king emblem just look right on the bike. I also took a road king emblem off of one of my old road king classic windshield bags, broke off the attachment lugs, smoothed it out and replaced the ugly black cover below the license plate, so now thew bike has the matching emblems on the seat and rear of the fender. Had been waiting to mount the full sized tour pak and the spoilers for a month or so as I knew I was getting the side marker lights for Christmas.  Just wanted to mess with it all once.  Here's the product of this evening's work.  This first photo is the saddlebag spoilers without the tour pak mounted.

I really like this look in conjunction with the chrome backplates on the Corbin backrests.  The large tour pak is going to be a real nice option to have when it comes time to hit the road.  Tons more space.  But this is the look the bike will have except when the big pak is on for longer distance road trips.  The spoiler lights function as both running lights and brake lights.  I'm actually quite pleased with how much extra rear facing light they put out and make that light up higher and in a more visible area.  This is even more pronounced with the tour pak on.

And here's a view from the side to catch the new side marker lights.  The tour pak came with a chromed plastic cover over the area with the side lights could be.  I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be put the red lights against one of the green bikes but against the red or against the yellow I think they'd look good.  Also like having the extra visibility for side traffic.

The spoiler lights all connect to the accessory connector up in front of the battery.  The side lights are supposed to go to a separate connector that comes out of the harness that also carries the radio antenna (if I remember correctly).  Since I'd already removed the rear whip antenna I didn't want to have two separate wire drops out of the tour pak and two separate connectors to deal with.  Since the side marker lights are just running lights I just spliced them in to the running light leg that was now already in the tour pak going to the spoiler.  The junction stays in the tour pak, is hidden by the liner, and there's only the one connection outside the tour pak now.  Just made for a neater install.

Once the liner and lig organizer are in it makes for a nice neat install.  The lid organizers in the saddlebags help to hold the harness in place to thos lights as well though I am a little more concerned about the harness routing inside those saddlebags.

The harnesses in the saddlebags are secured against the sides of the bags with adhesive backed wire clips.  But I can get pretty... um.... exuberant shoving a saddlebag liner full of clothes or other crap down inside of a saddlebag.

Going to have to be careful with those harnesses as stuff gets dragged in and out of the saddlebags.  I really really wish there was a liner for the saddlebags like the liner for the tour pak.  That would be slick.

This is a view down the side of the right saddlebag.  To the rear (picture left) you can see the connector that disconnects the harness to the tour pak's spoiler light and side lights.  As the spoilers come out of the box they dont have a disconnect there.  The harness is originally made to go uninterrupted from the rear light all the way to the accessory connector in front of the battery.

That, to me, seemed like a pain in the ass.

I didn't want to have to fuss with getting the seat off with the tour pak still in place to unhook that connection every time I wanted to take the tour pak on or off.  There's no good reason for it to have to be that way.  So I went down to the dealership and got one of those Y connectors that lets you plug two devices in the accessory connector in front of the battery.  With the Y connector I then had a male and a female end already crimped up.  Then just cut it in two, spliced about 36" of wire between the two ends, and therein had a jumper harness that could terminate neatly below the tour pak for easy removal.

The instructions with the spoiler kit and with the side light both had you bringing the wire out the bottom of the tour pak on the left side.  But since the high side is the right side when the bike is on the kick stand, and since that side is therefore just easier to get to, I brought it out the right side strictly for convenience.  The new tour pak didn't have a hole drilled on either side so it's not like I was leaving a hold open by doing it this way.  One new hole and one rubber grommet later and it's  just a lot easier to get to then if it were on the "low side."

The connector that comes through the side of the saddlebag in the forward part of the picture is pretty tough to see unless you're really bent over looking down there.  The connector to the tour pak is more noticable.  But unless you're up close to the bike and looking down between the bag and the fender you still really don't notice it so much.  With the saddlebag lid raised both connectors are pretty easy to get to when you wish to unhook them to remove a saddlebag or the tour pak though.

And this is looking back at the side where the connections are from about even with the front fotks.  The harness connector going in to the saddlebag can't be seen at all.  The harness that drops down out of the tour pak is barely noticable (if you know where it is) but the connector is nicely out of sight.

The new long home made harness that comes from the accessory connector fun along the left side of the battery and then crosses over to the right side behind the battery before dropping down between the strut and the fender.  From there it was a simple chore to hide it almost completely by using black zip ties to tie it to the bottom of the strut.  Once it got far enough back to swing back around and point upward it got tied off to the holes where the air nipples for the air shocks used to be.

That little bracket hasn't had anything to do since the Progressive shocks went on but it works perfectly as a tie down point for this new harness and is exactly underneath where the harness  that comes from inside the tour pak wants to drop down.

Then here's a pic of what the spoilers actually look like just setting on the bike (sorry for the poor light).
