Full Size Tour Pak for 2005 SEEG
« on: October 30, 2004, 12:11:58 PM »

Well my new full size tour pak came in today, and I was happy to note that there are no holes in the back for the antenna, or in the bottom for the wires and antenna to pass through. The area where the wires would go through is indented in case you decide to install these yourself. Also in keeping with the pattern that I have noted before on my bike, since this is a plastic part, the paint is perfect.
The large tour pak comes with the latches, lid, pouch inside, mat and retainer strap, but no backrest pad. I am torn at this moment as to whether to put the small backrest pad off the old chopped tour pak on, or put the larger backrest with arms that I have on the new tour pak. If I want to put the big pad on I have to drill holes in the lid. I'll post pics later. [smiley=givemebeer.gif]

Smoke, since I have the quick release kit (with hidden antenna) and can remove the whole tour pak as soon as I get to the destination, I went with the larger backrest with arms (for her comfort).  I think that's what most of the guys went with here.

Here's photos of mine........

Hey Mobe, did the king tour pak come with the pin stripes on top or did you use the lid off your chopped pak? Also how much was that bad boy? Always having to make all these important decisions about these bikes.  [smiley=nixweiss.gif] What did I ever do before all this?????  See Ya and looking foward to those pics.      JR  [smiley=beerchug.gif]

JC,
Looking at the pics of your new/old seat.  That "lower" passenger pad below the one with the arm rests?  Was it supplied by Corbin with the upper pad?  Or was it an HD (or other) piece you added separately?

Thanks.

Also, does anyone have any experience with the combination of a luggage rack and the rear spoiler?  Will they both fit in the space provided?  Does it look too busy or too full even if they will?  It's a decision I'll have to make when my full sized tour pak gets in.  And since Christmas is coming I need to decide on the luggage rack so I can suggest it as a gift to loved ones  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

I have no experience with the large luggage rack, but have had the small rack on the last two bikes I owned. The rack instructions come with a template so that if you do not have the brake lamp/spoiler but think you might buy it, that you install the rack to where it will clear. I installed the one on my RK so I could later install the spoiler, but on my SEEG I just put the rack where it looked best to me. I have a fuel "tank" shapped Harley bag that fits the small rack and we haul our raingear in it when we go on trips.

With Harley Bag On Rack. Bag has a base that mounts to the rack, very secure.

Yes the luggage rack and the spoiler will fit together and looks nice,  think that I posted pics in the thread tour pak graffics that shows it with the pin stripping on the spoiler to match the lid.  You will cover some of the pinstripping on the lid when you install the spoiler.  Hope this helps.

Thanks Magoo.  Good to know I'll have the option of using the rack with the spoiler if I choose to.  Will go find the thread you mentioned and take a look at the images.

JR the king size has all of the stripes and graphics exactly like the chopped tour pak that came on the bike. It lists for $850 but if you shop around you can get it for under $700. [smiley=helmet.gif] [smiley=helmet.gif]
