Not totally convinced on the Sta-Bos for the SERK yet. It has a different swingarm and the bike uses Radial Tires. I emailed the parts pages to Don and he's gonna compare it to the SEEG diagram and post both diagrams. But he feels the same as me, that they finally made these swingarm assemblies stronger and stiffer, to suit the new design. At least the Fork Caps will work! ;)

And I was sucked in many years ago!!! ;D

Good news for the SERK guys. Don posted on the Sta-Bo thread, both parts diagrams. The swingarms are assembled the same as they've always been. So, the Sta-Bo's stay! ;) Hoist! 8)

It was a good thought Howie; that they'd finally significantly upgraded the ass end of these things in some way.  With the extra forces of radial sidewalls being transmitted back through the bike it certainly seemed to make sense that one might accompany the other.

But, nope.....

As soon as I saw the line drawing for the 07 knew they were the same.  We were confusing the terminology a bit.  But it's the same parts buddy.  Some apparent difference in the outer brackets because they get new part numbers for the 07.  But the similarities are concerned with all the internals (bushings, bearings, spacers, etc) keeping the same part numbers they've had for a long time.

Bummer.  Was hoping to see something significantly better.  Oh well......

Well so was I hoping for an improvement, finally, back there. What was I thinking! And who the hell calls a bushing a spacer anyway? :confused5: Hoist! 8)

Terry, I think Magoo was referring to the Hoister's purchase of Sta-bo's and fork cap.  Maybe not, but that's how I read it.

I sure hope I get to test spin the SEUC tomorrow weather permitting.  I think it will be all back together.  They were doing the bushings when I stopped by to get the friggin' lower chrome belt guard today.

Can't wait.

I thought I was going nuts. That's how I read it too.

All right Rog! Get that thing on the road and tell us how much you love it now! ;D Enjoy your "new" bike on its maiden voyage! Let us know what you think, like I had to ask! ;) Hoist! 8)

Yes was refering to the bushing and end caps.  Want to hear how the bronze bushing are compared to the plastic ones.  Don't have any issues with handling so not in a hurry.

OK, got the puppies installed, the 440's mounted, True Track and Tracula bushings as well and finally got a ride in of about 70 miles.

The ride is fantastic, firm but not jarring and very quick to respond.  I am really pleased with the ride and look forward to more miles to become fully accustomed to the new ride and handling.

The True Track makes the entire bike much more firm and rigid, especially with the brass bushings in lieu of the Sta-Bo bushings.

All in all I am really pleased with the upgrades.

Edited in the morning:

Well, I slept on it last night and I would describe the ride as on a rail.  It seems that the bike is much more responsive to input through the handle bars or weight shift.  It definitely goes where you point it now.

Imagine entering a braking zone while riding hard, you apply the brakes with a firm pull on the front bake and "holy cow" the bike slows without the nose diving even a small amount.  Sure it changes attitude but I am talking almost imperceptible compression on the front end and yet it isn't harsh at all.

I drove over manhole covers and road depressions even what I thought were chuck holes that previously would have slammed the suspension and virtually nothing.  No suspension banging, spin slamming bumps or bottoming, nothing like that at all.  I am really looking forward to my ride to work this morning.  I'll take a twisty road so I can see better how the cornering is with the new set up.

Absolutely worth the $$$ in IMHO.

That morning nota bene rings true here Rog.  It's almost sad that we get used to and accustomed to the difference so quickly and then expect it.  Because it is so strikingly different and fun to get a feel of to begin with.  Glad your impressions continue the suit.  Hope you enjoy it.
