Thanks for the info; I just shot them off an email.  How hard/expensive is the R&R for the local shop?

Are you doing the SEUC or the FB, or both?  On the SEUC, it requires removal of the lower inner fairing to get to the top of the forks, remove calipers and let them hang by brake lines, remove front fender, remove front wheel.  Somebody who knows what they are doing could have them off in an hour or less.

SEUC for sure; I'd do them one at a time so I won't be too sad...
BUT, I'm planning a long ride this weekend [to Jim's for his opening] and another 9/20-23 to Reno and wine country and am trying to figure out if I can get it done in time for Reno.  Looks a little too skinny unless I air freight, and that's got to be mega $$$

Your chimp is pretty well trained, Chuck.  Most of the HD dealers use Baboons, from my experience.

If you don't want to tie your bike up, Traxxion can supply uppers and lowers for you, and ship out completed forks for you to install. That of course is more expensive, but could be an attractive option if you like to change bikes. You can then put your stockers back in, and put the AK-20 Forks on your new bike. ;)

Hey goober.

Ok, I had Traxxion do both the front end and the Bitubo shocks. The second I sat on he bike I noticed a difference. Like Jerry, the bike felt a little bit taller. As soon as I pulled out, I noticed a huge difference in low speed poarking lot maneuvers. It's simply easier to handle in a parking lot. The next few miles I was stuck in city traffic and not going over 35 MPH. I really didn't notice a huge difference, but, I may have been concentrating more on Atlanta's frigging traffic. Once I hit the interstate, I noticed a huge difference. The bike is more stable, and simply handles better.

I haven't had a chance to work on adjusting the Bitubo shocks any. Two up versus one up. 45 pound TP versus no Tourpack. I need to work on that.

Both the front end and the rear adds up to quite a chunk of change. I got used to and expected the better suspension really quickly. Like others have pointed out, I need to ride another stock harley to really notice the difference now.

That's the one bad part about the Traxxion Dynamics change Ken.  You do get so used to it.  Then when you hop on something else they feel unbelievably bouncy, sloppy and out of control.  It's one of those "once you've done can never have a bike without it again" kind of things  :2vrolijk_21: .

And then there's the adjusting the Bitubo shocks. I saw Chuck's paper and research he's done. Yikes, like Howie says I just want to be free to ride my machine. I don't know if I'll ever go through the mental agony to really adjust these shocks right. I suppose once you figured it out, it'll be easy.

Spydglide

I had promised you a report but have been tied up dealing with some issues on my boat.
(can you say chastised severely for speeding by the boat cops)

Now

A couple of things,

1)  I would not have another dresser with out it.
2)  Is it expensive? YES! But watching Nancy blast thru a 35 mph curve at 85 makes it worth it.
3)  Over the past few days I have purposely headed straight for the ruts, the dips, the cracks in the pavement.
The difference over stock is incredable!
4)  Is it worth it? The kind of guys I ride with there is no telling the roads and speeds we may experience.
The value of the piece of mind this upgrade gives me is well worth the cost.

When they installed mine they asked my weight, my style of riding, whether I pulled a trailer, if I regularly had a passenger. They set up my suspension based on my responses. And I did asked them to raise it a 1/2 inch and they did. I have the 440 heavy duty 13" shocks on mine. Nancy's has the 440 11.5" shocks on hers and I asked them to lower the front end a 1/2 inch and they did.

IMHO I think any of our bikes will seem a little taller with the Traxxion upgrades because the old suspension had such weak springs and sagged so much!

Thanks for the report, Chip.  Does Nancy's seem to be about where it was before they did the 'lowered' version?  Someone earlier had indicated that they thought the bike sat the same until you got on it and then is when you noticed the diff.......due to not compressing as much from the rider's weight.  Does it raise the front end or just restrict the compression?   :-\thanks, spyder

I'll bring some pieces of 2x4 to Hot Springs. We can lay them out and run over them with and without Traxxion / Bitubo. The results should be interesting to say the least.
