I had to go to a jobsite in Tennessee today, so took the RoadGlide. 75 degrees. VERY pleasant trip. Until I went through a checkpoint with 8 Tennessee state troopers. Was asked to show my license, and the smartass asked me if my helmet is legal. I twisted my head so he could see the back, and he quickly informed me it's NOT legal, and I damn well know it's not. Maybe it was some of the language on the helmet stickers, or his old lady is f$%*ing around on him, but, he had a burr in his ass. To make it worse, I didn't have my proof of insurance with me. It expired two weeks ago.

So, I guess it's time to retire my $15 three year old helmet I so love. I must have bought 10 helmets and they ALL suck except this $15 one. SO..Give me your opinions on a good helmet that is legal, and does not look like a bowl on top of my head. Gawd knows I'm ugly enough as it is.

Ken,

These come highly rated by everyone I know that has one.  The DOT version is much smaller/thinner/lighter than "normal" helmets.  I personally haven't used one of them, but I ordered one last week and they said 6 weeks delivery on the DOT.  http://www.carbonfiberhelmets.com/dothelmets.htm

$.02:  You guys might want to check out the DOT HCI Carbon Kevlar version, comes in reg. or polo.  I have two and found them to be a bit nicer and much cheaper!  Nearly as small as the beanie but has some chance of helping you if needed.

the non dot from acc is a good one it wouldn't pass the spear test or something like that. its my helmet of choice. get you a dot sticker for the back and you'd be good to go. someone here was suppose to send me some but eh!

the dot helmets are as good as they get. the acc is smaller for sure. :2vrolijk_21:  what did ya do to piss off smoky?


helmet laws sux, i like freedom of choice, but again noone ask me. ;D
