Didn't think about this until Chip just brought it back to my attention. You can rip MP3's to a CD and play it in your stereo. This will save you from buying a MP3 player, and will put about 100 songs on each CD.

I've already done that - you are right - about 100 songs per CD in MP3 format. About 20-25 in regular CD format.


Looking at an MP3 that will hold over 1,000 so I can just set it on random shuffle and forget it.

May end up looking at the Zumo GPS since the stock GPS is a joke of a bad joke.

I can vouch for that. I think you'd be happy with that decision. I've got a 2GB and 1GB SD card currently only have the 2GB partially full with about 300 songs.

I have been fortunate - no 110 problems other than heat.  I had planned to add true duals stage 1 and race tune it anyway so that took care of that and if I had not done those adds expect it would be fried at some point.

Rode Deals Gap with some Beemers a while back.   They had me lead.  Kinda surreal - they never wanted to pass or anything.  I left 1/2 of the rubber from my rear tire on that road as best I remember. 

Exellent taste in music Bro!  Whipping Post/FE album.  Eat a Peach alone blew out at least 8 car stereo speakers.

On the Bose headset - unless Bose offerrs one, I have 'cut the way more expensive than I figured wires fear' & so far cannot overcome it.

I've got an MP3 disc in the HK player that stays there.  Two versions of Whippin' Post, all of the FE album, most of Eat a Peach, and other assorted collections from first album and Idelwild South.  Dreams is one of all time favorite songs.  Did you know they all lived near G'burg for a while when they cut the first album.  Remember the inside of the album (I KNOW you've use it a few times to separate things) cover with them sitting in the creek?

That disc has about 100 songs on it, and the Garmin has another 80 or so.  With the XM to go with it, I rarely have to listen to commercial chit.

MP3 is just another format you can save music files in. The files are more compressed taking up less space so you can get more songs per CD. Starting in '06 w/the Harmon Kardon radios that came stock on bike w/radios you could play songs that were saved to MP3 format. CD w/files saved traditional way would only hold 20 - 25 songs, saving them in MP3 format you can get 100 +/- songs per CD. The newest version of Windows Media Player will Rip/Burn to MP3 format. If you ever decide you want to try it I can walk you thru it on the phone, so start getting a bunch of CD's together that you'd like to have all on one CD.

You are in the same boat as I am w/the '03 radios. MP3's will not play on them.

I have the same reception as RedDevil's post.  Good most of the time, tall buildings and heading northeast will make it spotty.

You could do a 4GB ipod nana from Sam's for $190, holds about 5000 songs.  They even have a road kit that allows it to charge with the lighter and play through the FM side if you can't plug it in.

I have the same problem was told it was because of the area I live in(ATLANTA) Went to PA. this week we road in the mountians had the same problem.

In our local area, we never lost signal except for obvious obstuctions - tunnels, sometimes with a lot of heavy foilage over the road etc.  But when we headed cross country towards Nelson earlier this year, Jamey lost XM coverage about Kentucky.  I lost coverage about Illionois.  I got mine back in Regina and it worked cross Canada.

Space aliens send mind melding cosmic rays sometimes that block XM radio frequencies.  At those times, it is best to wear a tin foil hat or a tin foil lined helmet for protection.  Many Canadians are descended from space aliens, & that is why you do not have the problem there as much, due to professional courtesy and all.

 


I moved my XM antenna again - to the top of the dash, between the windshield bags, and it works ok there - much better than in the fairing.
