It's especially hard for me to get into this whole topic when it's still over 80 degrees at 10:39 at night......we need to be talking iced'T'bars or something like that.  har!  :drink: spyder

Yeah, but some dumchit will do something stupid like ride to Canada and then up in to the Canadian Rockies in the middle of summer.  He might actually find use for such a thing.

Yeah, I get to test my grips again.

That's one I can do without.  Always thought those lighted mirrors looked, well...., retarded.

Ok, Jamey says he'd like a reliable set of grips for his bike, but I am trying to tell him that all I am seeing here is wires and the on off switch.  Does this handlebar heater just use the current grips themselves?

I'm going to keep fighting warrantly as long as I can on my own.  My last set was installed in Dec and had a one year warranty.

Candy...these don't go on the grips, so Jamie can keep his stock grips.  These go on the inside of the handlebars where the grips are, and heat from the inside out.  No moving parts.  That's the beauty of them....simple.

So for the normal grips, the more rubber you have, the warmer you hands are, but in the case of heating the bars instead of the grips, would it make sense that the more chrome there is the warmer they are, or is it the other way around. Jamey still has stock bars and grips.

Thanks for the feedback and clarification.

Yeah, actually; that's about what I would expect.  These are just a heating element installed inside of your pre-existing bars and grips.  So the more heat conductive is the surface you are laying your hands on (i.e., more metal, less rubber) the lower would be the setting on the thermostat you'd need to run.

If someone has a really good looking or good feeling set of grips they just love with nothing matching available heated this element system would seem a good solution.

Candy...I'm putting a set on the Vrod too.  It has the knurled chrome grips with no rubber, so I'm thinking those will get right toasty with these heaters.  I really like those grips, but you MUST always wear gloves with them...I wear gloves routinely, so it's not ever and issue.  I may go to another style on the Ultra, as there will be no sense in having that stupid knob on the left grip that will never work again!

Hope yours keep your mitts nice and toasty...you might need them in the Rockies!!!

Have a great time....you'll be leaving about the time we are getting home from our travels through your state and others.  Headed out this morning for WV.

If their would be a negative to the cartridge heaters: I would assume they would have a slow responce time, meaning when you turn them on they take a while to heat and when you turn them off the bars/grips will take a while to cool down. I had used cartridge heaters on snowmobiles years ago and remember this being a problem. After a while you get used to this remembering to turn them off or turn them down but if you forget your hands get hot and your little voice starts telling you you should have turned them down earlier. One thing I see with these is there is more than one level of heat, so with the variable control maybe this wont be a problem.

Also, now that I'm older and more aware that my little voice is smarter than I am, I'm sure I will be faster to respond to these kind of decisions in life.
