What is the one change that you'd ask HD for?
« on: January 08, 2005, 02:33:26 PM »

What is the one thing that you'd ask HD for, if you were able to, on the CVO?

Let's keep it to one thing per person to keep it from getting conveluted.  It can be a modification of an existing item, a totally new item, a new style, whatever is the one thing that you'd like to see.  Be sure to also mention the model of CVO that you'd like to see that change on.

I'd like to start it by saying that I'd like to see an advanced ABS system for both front and rear brakes on all HD's but especially the SEEGs (Screamin Eagle Electra Glides).

Next??

Given the combination of my riding styles, the gearing of the SEEGs to begin with, and the RPM range the 103 is happiest in to begin with I personally don't get too wound up over the six speed.  A good ABS system that didn't eat up a saddlebag, however, would be very nice.  Maybe since BMW is going stop making that 1200 touring bike with the nice little ABS system on it Harley can license some of the application hardware?  (probably not.....)

Great question JC with a very easy answer from SEEG owners:

An In-Dash Oil Temp Gauge for the SEEGs!

Mine is in a truck somewhere in the Heartland...expect it on Thursday.

JC, I know you asked for one but, upon further review (yeah, I'm watching the playoff game right now), I realize I've got two.

The first one purely for reasons of safety would be the ABS system.

A separate first choice for the fun and accessory category, however, would be a radio that had XM capability.  Either built in or as a simple add on.  Every other auto manufacturer does it.  The aftermarket does it cheaply.  The radio and ABS are both examples of where, for reasons I don't understand, HD often seems willing to stay behind the curve.

Great Question....I would have to agree with the others that an ABS system would be nice. Being that the bike has all of the other goodies (besides some chrome add ons) already and plenty of power (thanks to pipes, ect) the brakes would be the single most important thing for me.

A much better clear coat on the paint job.
Mine is VERY thin and as a result, I have mucho nicks from pebbles and hard headed bugs.

I would ask for an ala carte menu that you could order the bike exactly the way you wanted it.  Engine, transmission, suspension, paint, wheels, saddle, handlebars, footpegs/footboards, lighting, braking system and components such as rotors and pads, clutch, tires all coupled with a less than seven day turnaround for anything involving service and I mean warranty adjustments, too.

A better radio that would play MP3 format, more watts, XM radio,  and 4 quality speakers.

On reflection of the earleier post that I made about the ala carte bike,  I guess that I would be satisfied with the level of quality being improved accross the board with these bikes.  I mean a level so strong that there would not be any complaints about fit and finish with any of these bikes or the non-CVO bikes that they make.

I agree with MFG in the ala cart bike he mentioned but I would think it could be very real if they followed the process that Pacar (Kenworth/Peterbilt) use in setting up orders processed to the factory.

That would be the one change I would like HD to implement is in their ordering process.

I agree with the others, order what you want especially for engine /performance, car manufacturers have been that way since dirt was young.

I feel the final drive ratio of 3.15 is a bit tall so I would like to have the old FL gearing of 3.37 with a six speed. Best of both worlds for my style of riding [smiley=laugh.gif].

I am going to have to jump on the bandwagon concerning the ABS.  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]
