H-D issues Anniversary models every so often and have shown a penchant for odd years to " celebrate " My personal two cents is that it is a marketing tool and nothing more than that. Some of the " Anniversary " models seem to show up in years with little change from the previous year or so - - - 85th and 90th come to mind.

There were a few substantial changes in the ’93 touring platform; battery under the seat; oil reservoir under the trans; crankcase vents through the heads; side open saddlebags.
