When checking gearshaft runout with the crankshaft supported by its main bearings (assembled), maximum runout will be measured as far to the outside as possible. When checking in a truing stand, the maximum runout will be measured as close to the flywheel as possible.

Yep - I agree...what I believe I did was (after removing the cam plate) was to check it as close in and as far out as I could - and found both locations to be .0016.

Got up this morning so damn keyed up.  All of us were that way.  The Girls couldn't wait to get out the door.  Even the CVO Boxers were excited.  We had HOTEL reservations in Enterpise, overnight arrangements for the CVO Boxers.  Everything was in order.  Got on the road.  Dropped off the CVO Boxers at the vet's office.  Headed south on 231.  Got to 278, hung a right toward 65...............and my cell phone rang.  Dennis says the engine is still bending pushrods.  Turned around.  Hung a left on 231 and headed to Huntsville.  Picked up the CVO Boxers.  Paid for the hour they were there and went home.  Unloaded the truck, and now I'm telling you guys about it.

......................................................just trying to figure out how the hell I'm supposed to pick up the bike once it is ready...........ride it 1000 miles...........take it back down there............get it tuned................get it back up here.............go to Talladega next weekend................Maggie Valley the next....................may as well go to work Monday and Tuesday of next week even though I had those days scheduled off.  Not sure if I can do Maggie Valley on the bike.  Might have to trailer up there.............if we go at all now.  Next weekend is shot in the ass since we're going Talladega.  Already losing money on that one since the folks who were originally supposed to go with us had to cancel since the husband is being deployed.  Hell, with all this great news, I'm not sure I'll be able to enjoy the races next weekend.

Just venting guys.  VERY flustrated right now.

Henry sorry to hear that I can only imagine your dissapointment. It might not mean much to you now, but remember good things come those that wait. Also on the bright side better that these gremlins are found out now rather then when you pick the bike up and have it back home. Good luck w/working out all the details and getting back in the wind.

dOOd is right!

If any consolation I have a few bent pushrods in my display case. There are from my 00 Buell. I'm sure Dennis is working dilligently to resolve the issue. Don't pull a "Hoist" and cancel everything. Everything will be fine. When the Frontier 120 was built I was promised the middle of December date. I knew then a build schedule never works the way I want. My drop dead date was the Easyriders show on Jan 18th. I made that.

Stay cool, don't get upset, when it's right and you twist the throttle all this will be forgotten!

Henry, that a prospective deadline isn't met is just the norm for suppliers/vendors in this industry.  It's not right.  But it is normal.

Far more concerned, therefore, about the "still" in the "still bending pushrods."  How many times has it eaten parts now without having the cause discovered?

Assume you've got adjustables of some kind.  Also remember you writing that the job was tasked as one whose goal was not extremes.  Those things being so will be both curious and anxious to learn what the apparently now repetitive problem has been.

Henry...The Vrod is always available.  It's set up for two up riding.  Bring the trailer and pick her up next weekend if Thumper is not ready to roll.  You'd probably want to trailer up to MV, but it would be a blast to ride once there.

I've got two size large full face helmets, and two HD Ultra Jet 3/4, one large and one medium.

The bike is your to use if you need it.

Get it right Howie, you made alternative plans because of the out pouring of generosity from this site from people that offered to help. If there had been no offer like you got here  then you would have been in a rental car following us all over Hot Springs. Did that happen because you put it together? Hell no. It happened because a lot of people care about you. YOU MADE ALTERNATIVE PLANS? Chit give credit where credits due! It's not all about you. It's about you being a part of this family! And if Henry doesn't get his bike back then guess what, a silver and black bike will be available to him if he wants. That's what people on this site do for each other!

You know GDW that I'll never forget the generosity that all the folks here (you included) had shown during that period. There'd have been no rental car. I wouldn't have been there. That outpouring allowed me to make those plans. Give me some credit. But alternative plans still needed to be made by me, in the end. And make them I did, because of that generosity shown to me. And I'm glad I did. And I've offered a bike to folks numerous times as well. When you find my flights and book and pay for them, and coordinate everything for me, then you can say YOU made the alternative plans. So cut the BS and stop reading into everything so much. I was trying to show Henry he has options and people here want to help him. That's all. Maybe you should write my posts so they can be worded perfectly for you!
