Just had the IDS installed on my bike last week.  After a couple of hundred miles this past weekend all I can say is wow.  What a difference it made.  5th gear is noticeable quieter and no lugging in 6th gear.  Well worth the investment.

I just rode 600 miles around the Mississippi River by Lacrosse WI. The ids is is just perfect upgrade to the drive train. I got better gas mileage since I didn't have to be at 3000 rpm all day. The ride is 50% better than before. It is a must for all 07 Tour bikes.  The ride just smooths outthe drive train pulses that you just were not sure of before at low RPM about 2300. Billy

Just got bike back from install of IDS and rode home - less than 10 miles but can tell it is noticeably smoother.  Gonna get some miles next week at the No GA scouting ride and can tell better then.

Just had the dealer install the new IDS last week. What a difference in my ride. No lugging at all at 55 in 6th. 5th gear is quite, and shifting is so much smoother.

I'VE BEED TRYING TO DECIDE IF I NEED IDS. I'M WORRIED THAT PUTTING THIS ON MIGHT COVER UP PROBLEMS THAT I WOULD NOTICE SOONER WITHOUT IT. BECAUSE LUGGING,WHINNING WILL STILL BE THERE BUT NOT NOTICEABLE . I HAVE 24,000 MILES ON MY 07 JESTER IT DOES LUG A LIL TRYING TO PULL IT UP FROM UNDER 2200 RPM .FROM MY OLD TRUCK DRIVING DAYS LUGGING WAS HARD ON THE MOTORS,AND THEY WOULD COME APART,BREAK,AND HURT PARTS. SO THATS WHY I'M TRYING TO DECIDE IF IT'S A FIX OR COVER UP.  RIDE SAFE JDO

Mine's going on next week.  15% off the part and free installation under the "elbow grease" program.  I'm also having the rear wheel replaced since they have to remove some of the rear components for both.  I wouldn't have done it if I hadn't had read this thread first....

This type of rear sprocket has been used by other manufactures and HD (VRod) for quite sometime.  Even with the IDS installed, you should still know the rpm range where your engine will be lugging.  All the IDS does is smooths out the power pulses to the rear wheel giving you a smoother ride and shifts.  IMO the IDS isn't a band aid to cover up problems, but rather a way to just smooth the ride out a little and do what other mfgrs have been doing for years.

Bike has been in the shop so far for a month with the oil leaks waiting repair. I gave told them that due to the fact that our riding weather is done, to take his time and get it right. Also asked them to find out what the SE Roadking IDS part number is and to put one on when he gets it. Hoping that this will smooth out the ride in 6th, it was feeling very pulsey ( vibration) even at 70 mph and above.

You will love it.  YOU can use 6 gear at 60 and itis smooth.

Mine's in the shop getting a few things done to it. I told them to go ahead & install the IDS. Everything I've heard has been nothing but good. Can't wait to get it back. Linny

Don't tease us like that sir.  It's so cruel.  A "few things?"  C'mon now; what's happening next?

I should be getting my SEUC back from the shop soon....had the rear tire replaced, 5K done, and IDS installed.  I also had to have the automatic latching mechanism in the tour pak replaced, but that was on national back-order. They should have received that on the 12th, so hopefully, the bike will be ready to be picked up when I get back from my business trip.   Will give everyone my impression of the IDS when I pick the bike up.

I'm sure you'll like it!  :huepfenjump3:  Two friends rode mine after I added it, and both were so impressed (as was I!) that they ordered it for their own bikes straight away!

Good morning Red, that's exactly what I'm having done to mine this week (except the TP lock).  Mine has 6K and the rear tire is nearly a racing slick.  I'm looking forward to riding it when it comes back.
