Don't miss me so fast!

Today's Update:

I just got home with the bike. 25 miles on the new top end. I'm letting it cool down now. Be heading back out soon.

Bike feels great. It runs even better with these unbalanced pistons too! ::)

It seems like it did before the ACR failure. There was no problem whatsoever with disconnecting the ACR wires. ACRs are removed and the wiring is simply disconnected. Throws no codes. I'm loving the Manual CRs. More of a Hot Rod feel to starting the bike now. The Axtell barrels are unreal. Puts the stock HD crap to shame. They make the heads look cheesy! :D

Bike seems to run the same as before. Running cool oil temp and never exceeded 200 deg yet. Hard to tell anything after only 25 miles and not exceeding 3000 RPM for now. I'll try to put a few hundred on tonight and get the rings seated OK. I'll be able to put more miles on tomorrow, while I'm waiting for Binx to get home from work. We'll be heading to the Q's around 7 and staying overnight. We'll ride up to Neal's with the Q's on Sat morning, to meet the group. By the time we get to MA for the ride, it should be pretty well broken in. I'll know more then. There's no vibration or any discernable effects from the rebuild. It appears to be running fine. One can only hope the chopper gods will be happy now! ;)

That's great news Howie,

It's about time you get to enjoy riding your scoot instead of spending time coordinating part shipments, worrying about vendors and answering the concerns of your good natured but skeptical friends ;)

I hope you (and everyone else) has a great trip.

Howie, I just stumbled into this thread the other day, but haven't had time to respond. I don't troll thru the RK threads very much.
I hope this build works out for you. You certainly have enough time and money invested to have the perfect bike. If it's any consolation, I know how you feel. Several years ago I invested way too much on an EG standard. After a couple of 95" builds, I decided to go all the way and drove over 2K miles to a well respected shop for a $ 6K stroker build, only to have it fail within the first 600 miles. Couldn't afford the time to return it, so I had to bite the bullet and redo the top end locally which was another $ 1K  out of pocket and more time lost. It all worked out and ran fine after that, but it shouldn't have cost that much money and time, but it was what it was. Plus the shop that did the build was of no help at all. Best of luck.

Thanks for all your support gang! :2vrolijk_21:

Got about 100 miles on last night. Ride 15-20 miles and stop for 1- 1.5 hours at a clip to let it cool off. Bike feels good. About the same as before, like I said earlier. I'm going out again now to do the same til Binx gets home from work. Rings should be seated OK before we take off for Q's tonight. I'll be taking it easy going up there too. Should have about 350 miles by Q's and 500 by Neal's. That should allow me not to become the "anchor" on the group ride. I should be able to start riding it "normal" by then. This is what I built. I was happy before it spit out the ACR. I'll be happy with it again if it stays together and doesn't leak again! ;)

BH, the Dyno sheet's on P1 of this thread, and in the SERK Dyno Thread. 126.2TQ/120HP. The build is the same cams and specs as before. Just tried to make it even stronger this time around!

Todays Update:

200 miles on new top end now. Running fine so far. Puking from breather like before. Feuling thought I should have broken it in with dino oil instead of the M1V-Twin. But they're going to make me a custom crancase breather to test for them. It vents from the oil tank and is piped to a filter under the frame. I'll try it out. Anything to stop that annoying puking. S&S makes something that goes in the cam chest. I have to check on that one too. Anyone know anything about that one?

Been bringing the revs up now. Feels great. Had it up to about 90 a few times. Up and down in the R's to get them rings seated. about 120 miles to Q's tonight. I'll stop once and let it cool on the way. Then another 120 to Neal's from Q's. Same thing on that leg. There'll be close to 500 by the time we do the group ride. Should be broken in enought that I doubt I'll be holding anyone back.

But it seems OK and I'm happy to have Cybil back on the road! Life doesn't suck right now! ;D

Enjoy your holiday weekend everyone! ;)

This might not be a new part for Feuling Howie.  For awhile now they've had a pressure vent on the market the vented at the oil fill.  They market it as a pressure vent for those that have trouble blowing out dipsticks.  The kit is a new oil fill cover with an extra fitting tapped in to it for a vent line.  If memory serves it's just open to atmosphere with a little filter on the end.  Will see if I can find it......

Ok, either they've superceded the old kit I was thinking of or I remembered it incorrectly.  Rather than tapping a new fitting in to the oil fill housing the kit now replaced the vent/drainback line in the housing with a new one that offers the vent fitting.  Certainly an easier and smarter installation.  Feuling part number 3080.

Here's one of the Feuling vent kits listed on eBay Howie.  $140.00 for about $25 worth of fittings and line and a little K&N filter.  Ain't this Harley stuff special...

That's a neat looking part.  I wonder if you could remove the filter, connect that end to the rocker box vents, and let the oil vent back into the crankcase instead of being sucked into the throttle body?  Probably wouldn't work for some reason, but it would sure be nice if it did...
