Why buy any SE-110 bike ??
« on: September 13, 2007, 11:44:50 PM »

I was just curious, why do alot of guys buy the SE-bikes?? For a hot engine and some extra chrome  :nixweiss:
I owned a regular 07 H-D roadking and did the 103 kit plus some extras on it and I could smoke the SE-110's!! :'(  :'( It is much cheaper and it did not run as hot as the 110's!!

I am just wondering :confused5: :confused5: I am not being sarcastic, maybe this has been a topic before, but I just don't understand why :nixweiss:

Hoist even said that most guys customize their bike anyways to make it more their own style, so why buy an SE-bike that is already customized by some designer that you don't even know  :confused5: :confused5:

                                             Just curious  :huh2:

I am buying my first CVO bike hopefully this month or early next month (waiting for my ordered bike).  I have own 3 non-CVO bikes and have sold them all privately over the last year to put towards my new CVO Ultra.  Why?  Aside from just liking and always wanting one, by the time I got done adding all of the accessories, whether functional, i.e. heated grips, or cosmetic, and that list is endless to a stock bike, I figured I could have had a CVO factory bike and a bigger engine to boot.

I think if you like the stuff CVO does to the bike, it's a pretty good deal when you pencil it out, and you have the added plus of it being a "bone stock" custom bike.  And besides, they look pretty cool...at the end of the day, it's a personal thing, and you buy what makes you happy, good luck!

Mike,

I bought the first one because I loved the look of the 04' pumpkin and it came with most of the chrome I would do right out of the gate and I was saving about 4 grand over what I had just done on my 03 anniversary edition which included 103 motor and chrome and etc.   On top of that I felt I had a limited edition bike and a paint scheme that I really enjoyed and a great starting canvas for future personalization.

My last bike was an 02 Ultra.  After I bought the bike I spent another $10K on performance and bling.  After I spent an extra $10K it still wasn't worth much more than I paid for it to start with.  If you buy the CVO bike, you get the bling and performance with a SE serial # and hopefully can get bigger $$ when you go to sell it.

And, if you got the $$, why not??

**Note:  I bought the CVO bike and am still spending $$ like crazy :nixweiss:

Sure you get alot of Chrome for the $$$, but you didn't customize it, you bought it that way, anyone can do that!! :greedy: :greedy:
Wouldn't you want to say that you did the custom add-ons to your style, instead of saying that I bought that way!! :-[ :-[
What about the heat issues, are they worth all that?  :nixweiss: :nixweiss:

  Harry,

Alot of you guys had the SE-bikes before the 110's came out, yours were the 103's and they  don't have the heat issues that all these 110's are having now, or all the leaks that are happening with all these new ones  ??? ???

Mike what drew me to he CVO line was the custom paint, bigger motor and limited production. In reading your post I think you are refering to the new 110's with their inherrant motor issues. No matter where I go people gather around my scoot and ask me a million questions and that makes it all worth it. Later,Q

I am not knocking anyone if they buy one, thats great if you like it buy it!! I am just alittle surprised with all the issues that they have been having that people still want them, thats all I am saying  :nixweiss: :nixweiss:

I even looked into one a couple of times and I almost bought one, but all the issues with them made me wonder and now I am happy that I didn't!  :2vrolijk_21:

I enjoy customizing my own bike anyways, sure some of the SE-bikes look good, but it's just alot of $$ to have to fix it as soon as you get it and still have to change some of the things to make it run better!! :nixweiss:

It looks nice, real nice  :2vrolijk_21: :2vrolijk_21:, yours didn't come with all the issues that the newer ones are coming with. Sure I would of bought one of them myself, but these new ones with all the issues, I just can't see it!  :confused5: :confused5:

                                                  Again, nice bike  :2vrolijk_09:

Mike,

My reasoning for going with a CVO versus a regular model was based on one major consideration that had nothing to do with chrome, paint, or any other "visual" factor.  I was looking for a bagger, and based on my previous experience with a TC88 in a Dyna I knew the engine would not provide acceptable (to me) performance in a bike weighing an additional 200 lbs., especially after adding a passenger and gear.  I personally like to keep the internals of my engines stock, since having major engine modifications done seems to be a crap shoot around here and above all I was looking for reliability.  I certainly would not have any local dealer touch it, I don't have any of the highly respected speed shops close by, and I knew that even though I have the mechanical ability to do it myself I wouldn't ever get around to it.  It just seemed so much better to buy the bike with the stronger engine already in place, with a full factory warranty as a bonus.

Well, I'll try to make this short and sweet to avoid boring you.  As things turned out, I (and many others from what I see on this site) would have been better off just buying the standard bike and taking my chances with the engine mods.  I had problems with the "factory assembled" engine on the initial ride home from the dealership, and things went downhill from there.  The difference in quality between this bike and the standard model Dyna I traded in was like night to day, in all areas (powertrain, paint, electrical, etc.), with the standard model far outshining the CVO in quality.

If I were able to do it over again, I'd buy the solid black Ultra I was considering at the time and just add the bits and pieces I really want.  The first winter I'd either build the engine up myself or more likely crate it up and ship it to one of the reputable builders for an infusion of power and reliability.  And when all was said and done I'd probably be much happier with both my bike and with the MoCo.  To me, the CVO experience has been a real eye opener with regard to the way the MoCo does business, and I'm not impressed.
