Nice pics and keep em coming. Your blue looks great!!

Thanks Screamin...  I've been planning to do this for a long time.  It took a lot of work to finally get the bike legal here, then multiple deployments and poor weather just kept getting in the way.  I plan to expose more of Okinawa to my CVO Friends here, as time permits.

Having a cold one, looking from the beach bar at Al's Yum-Yum Tree.  For those who've been here, we're next door to the Coconut Moon Beach Bar at the intersection of Route 58 and Route 6.  We're on the west side of the Island, near Zanpa.

Hope ya'll enjoyed.  If the bike keeps running well, I hope to make more of these local trips and post more pix...

Firedood, I work at Camp Hansen, so pix of this area will be easy.  But since I want to include my bike, I'll make this area my next subject for a few pictures.  Kin-ville has undergone a few changes--but many of the bars here have been around since the Vietnam era...
Great thanks. :2vrolijk_21: It's been many years since I was there ('76) and I'm sure a lot of has changed. My barracks were near the back gate and there was a bar (can't remember the name) that I used to frequent a lot. Had great cheeseburgers. ;D

It's a beautiful island, and the beaches are awesome. I can let you know how to get free airfare to and back along w/free room and board if you really want to go. :D Last time I was there you only had to stay 12 months before returning.

You said it Fired00d...  I came over on the plan you describe, and haven't left yet.  That was back in '91.

Sub-tropical environment.  Weather good for riding all year.  Come with a family, and you may stay at least 3 years...  Really, it's a great place to spend time.  But, I'd love to get back to CONUS and experience some of the great rides I've read about in this forum.

Take care.

Fired00d,
I support the Intel BN here.  Our building is also at the back gate (gate 2, I believe).  Before they closed this gate in '01, I would walk outside to the local grocery store and pick up some chow.  I think the bar you're talking about has closed long ago.  But, Kin-ville is alive and functioning outside the main gate, gate 1.  There are a couple of places I sometimes get to that serve up an artery-clogging portion of french fries and a huge order of taco rice--guaranteed to put you to sleep the rest of the day.

They're understandably touchy about taking pictures near the gates, but I'll get some of the surrounding areas as soon as I can.

Take care.

Wow! Really enjoyed the pics, great job posting! Your bike is beautiful!!! :2vrolijk_21: I like the one on the trail. The first thing I thought of is critters jumping out of the brush! :nervous: Is there a concern with deer or other damaging critters? Look forward to more pics, until then ride safe and God Bless!

I was w/7th Comm when stationed there. Can't remember how/why but when I first got there I got assigned an admin job because of my ability to type. Then when I went to serve my Mess/Maint duty they found out I could cook so I worked in chow hall for awhile. Went out on a cruise to Philippines and Australia and found out having dual MOS' wasn't all it was cut out to be. While on the ship deployed they had me cooking while all the rest of my unit was taking it easy, then when we got to Australia I was humping radio's. Needless to say I quickly forgot how to cook and on the way back I chilled w/the rest of my unit.

Thanks JR.
I've seen many great pix on this forum--even from the other side of the pond.  Figured I had to represent--especially since I believe I'm the only '07 CVO owner/operator in Japan, at least the only American owner.

On those roads, we have more problem with moss and 'binjo ditches' (drainage ditches running the entire length of each side of that roadway about a foot wide and a foot deep--uncovered) than with critters.  Sometimes a mongoose decides to make an ill-timed crossing, but I haven't heard of any major accidents from folks here hitting animals.  Another nice thing here is the lack of bugs at night to plaster the front of the bike, or worse the biker's face...

Take care.

Ah yes, the classic rookie mistake.  I think we all learned to, Never let 'them' know what you're good at, because you'll be stuck doing it forever, and Never let 'them' know what you like, unless you never want to do it...  Mess duty is such a very important thing to be part of, but is a very thankless duty.

We work with and support some of the 7TH Comm equipment.  They're just down the block from us.  They're another bunch of hard-working Marines.

Take care.
