My motor is done, Now it's a 113!!
« on: October 07, 2007, 11:54:25 AM »

I had the 103 put in thursday!! It runs pretty good, still needs to be tuned!! I was going to have it tuned on friday, but the dealer couldn't get me in!! So I have just been riding alittle this weekend and will have it done on tuesday!!
This motor makes alittle more noise than the other 103 that I did, the tapping sound!! I was told it would because of the bigger cam and heavier springs!! :confused5:

This is what I ended up doing-  (07-Ultra)

-SE103 big bore kit w/ flat top forged stroker pistons
-Heads ported & polished & shaved and bigger valves (10.25:1 comp)
-50mm throttle body matched to heads
  -251 cams w/adj. pushrods
  -Highflow A/C
  -SERT
-D&D fatcat 2-1 exhaust w/ performance quiet baffle
-SE performance clutch kit w/ spring

Still needs to be tuned, but est. #'s  104-hp  108-tq  :2vrolijk_21:
will know tuesday, I will post the results!! ;D

                                 Later
                                        MIKE :coolblue:

  (Changed it to a 113!!)

The bike was tuned today, 105-hp  &  107.5-tq, not to bad!!

It runs pretty good, the D&D 2-1 exhaust is a great pipe, it's just alittle loud for me, but it runs good!! :2vrolijk_21: Some guys might like it, but its just a tick loud for me!!

It will take some getting use to, but I guess it's not to bad!! :nixweiss:

Mike,

Glad it is turned out the way you wanted it.  Looking forward to the Tommy spanking report ~~  errr I mean the ride report once you get some more miles on it now that it has been tuned.   What exhaust are you leaning towards now since these are too loud?

Mike,
What will your choice be for an exhaust system? Do you plan on staying with a 2-1 setup or will you go with some sort of dual system?

Some guys might like it, but its just a tick loud for me!! I am going to take it off and sell it.
I know I might lose alittle bit on the hp & tq  numbers, but thats ok!! :nixweiss:

The D&D 2-1 fatcat w/ performance quiet baffle & the ghost pipe for 07 touring bikes is up for sale now!!
go to sales for the details!!

Mike, before you give up on it conpletely, with your build, try just changing the muffler. Try using the FatCat Quiet Muffler instead of the Quiet Performance Muffler. I think you'll be happy with that setup on your build. ;)

D&D says that you lose alot of the performance out of the 2-1 when you go to the standard baffle, so that kind of defeats the 2-1 purpose, plus it costs $330 to buy another muffler!!
I can't just change the baffle, I have to change the whole muffler tip!!

I have a set of the Cobra 4" mufflers already, I might just buy the V&H Dresser Duals and use these Cobra mufflers, that should sound good, I hope!! :nixweiss:
The Cobras are not to loud and they have a good deep sound to them!!

Thats probably the plan for now anyways!! :nixweiss:

I have a set of V&H Dresser Duals if you want to go the used route. Let me know. But Joe said he gets excellent performance results with the D&D Quiet Muffler. Do you know anyone who has one to try out before you buy it? That would be worth doing before you dump the whole system. The muffler's all you need to try it out. Exhaust choices are tough. Good luck finding the right one for you. Let me know if you're interested in the V&H Headpipes. ;)

I am not for sure yet, but I am just not a lover of the 2-1 systems, especially on the baggers!! I know alot of guys like them and the sound, but I don't think it's for me!! :wacky:

I decided to leave the D&D's on there for awhile, they are still a bit loud for my taste, but we'll see if they grow on me after awhile!! :nixweiss:  :nixweiss:

Hey Mike, I said the same thing when I first put them on. And I had been using SPO's, which were pretty quiet. Didn't really want loud mufflers on my touring bike. But I got used to them, and now I love them. You hear everything your motor's doing with them. And cages seem to get intimidated and move out of your way! Now I like 'em! And I set off all the car alarms too! ;D

I havn't noticed anything from the left side either, I don't know why! :nixweiss:

Yah, something was done to my motor, I'm not sure what yet, but someday it will be done!

Once this is all finished and right, I will be done for sure!! ???  ???

It would be less stressful if we just sat around a camp fire and just watched each other throw our money in it and watched it burn!! :bigcry:

The motor runs great, it just makes alittle bit of top end noise, so they are going to check the valve springs and all the clearances. Maybe go to lighter springs!!

I am happy with the #'s that it is putting out, for what I used, it turned out good!! :2vrolijk_21:
