Don't pull this "Just one more" stuff. Although it was Hard10 that mentioned the checkered flag motif, don't quit on me now.

based on those pics, I would go with a custom jobbie, especially since the insurance company is fitting the bill!!!

I've been keeping an eye on this thread.  I thought early on that it's best to keep it stock.  But what's personal about a bike that has a color that was your second choice and there are over 1,000 just like it.  If the custom paint will mostly be covered by insurance go that route and pick out what you REALLY want.  If you ever want to sell it, try it custom.  If it doesn't work use the VN# to go back to the factory paint.  Some lucky person will get a PERECT looking color job.  After all, how are people with custom paint paying for it now?   :cherry: :joker:

Anyone else change their mind?  I love some of the photos posted.  I also like the custom paint shop options in the HD parts catalog.

Buddy, first and foremost ------- you are fine.

OK - The bike.   Keep it stock or go for something more exotic ----- insurance dime.

Go exotic, and then put one of those fancy searches on the ebay that Don and D00d know about and keep your eye open for stock tins.  They come up all the time for a penny on the dollar.  OK, so that is not right ---- but you get the idea.  I know that RainMan - has brand new tins for his fatboy in boxes so his son can have a brand new lookin CVO fatboy to ride some day.  It happens and when not in a hurry, you can get whatever you want.  You been watching the prices of these CVOs in the resale lot?  Go waaaaaay wild.

I hope I am never in the position to wonder.   ;)

I guess that's what is different for me. I picked the red bike because I liked that one best out of the three choices. My first choice would have been a blue bike, but I didn't like the blue they were offering. I really wanted a blue like that used on the 04 CVOs.

Since I'll be receiving enough money to either replace it or repaint it all, now I have an option to get a CVO with a paint scheme I feel is more like I would expect to see on a $35k bike. It's not a secret that the 2007s didn't receive rave reviews for the paint design. Now I can either take advantage of the situation and try to make lemonade out of a basket of lemons, or just order the parts and have a CVO bike like all the others. Not that that's bad, just thinking about my options.

:indian_chief:

First of all, glad to here your phisically OK. Boy it seems like you,ve had a he// of a year. First the house, then the new bike mechanical problems now this. I feel for you dude.

If I might offer my suggestion. I know how you feel about the 04 B&B seeg paint scheme and I feel the same way (go figure), I'm reminded all the time of how it looks when I park it in crowd. Have someone copy that paint scheme from the 04 B&B seeg and modify it slightly so it has a different character (maybe more flames maybe more starlight black on the front fender and more cobalt blue on the bag), just to personalize it and separated if from someone who really knows the bike. Than I think you could feel special about it having the color you really wanted. If you really hung up on resale value and your not going to hang on to the bike I would say get the stock cvo skins. The bottom line is I would price it either way and when I had all the facts including what the bike might look like with the custom skins then and only then I would make my decision. Good luck with your decision, it would drive me nuts.

Chuck;
just finished reading through this thread, Glad you ok!

As far as the paint goes if you want to go custom  and you have the means to do so I would order the new paint and leave it boxed up for a later time. Then pick up some used tins and have them done just the way you want to. This way you can keep the originals for resale later. Best of both worlds.

Well, I got the estimate from the dealer and if it sticks, I can have the tins gold plated.
