I disagree.  I read your post on AIM & it was definitely not wimpy or PC.  You put it out there in black & white positioning it in AIM's & the MoCo's corner to do something proactive.  I think they like your handle (name) better.

First of all, kudos to you for all of rebuild info. you've put on this site to correct the factory issues & mostly, to make your ride reliably fast & even more fun to ride.  I'm sure you'd have done it anyway at some point even if there weren't any issues as I was thinking about the ultimate setup even before I bought mine.  Hopefully, somebody from the MoCo is reading this to learn how to get it right w/others' parts.

Ironically, I just tried posting again in response to Black Diamond's earlier post & clicked on "post" further down the page after options & it went through.  Previously, I clicked on "post" before the options area at the bottom & got the review message response like you guys did.  Maybe that's the reason for the delay.

I PICKED UP MY BIKE FROM THE DEALER ON SATURDAY.  THE GASKET'S WERE REPLACED WITH PART #17052-99B.  THE SERVICE TICKET WORK DESCRIPTION SAID: "REPLACED HEAD GASKET W/HD PART FOR CVO LEAK.  INSPECTED ALL INTERNAL PARTS IN TOP END (NORMAL).  REPLACED ALL GASKETS & O-RINGS IN TOP END".  TIME WILL TELL IF THIS HAS FIXED OR JUST PROLONGED THE PROBLEM.

Good luck & I mean it sincerely.  You mentioned the "B" gasket in your message.  I remember reading a post about a "C" gasket recently.  Not to beat a dead horse but let's say their original "A" gaskets were just not up to the task w/how hot these motors run due to the EPA requirements & their potentially weak responding EFI systems to combat this heat issue on the '07s & '08s.  Then they came out w/the "B" gaskets & supposedly now the latest & greatest "C" gaskets.

If the liners are possibly slipping in the cylinders, does it really matter what kind of gaskets you have or are these mutually exclusive issues?  It sounds as if the heat is a common factor w/the failing gaskets & slipping liners unless the liners just slip because they're not made properly, however, maybe the liners don't always slip & those failures are gaskets only or it's what the latest poster said on AIM's forum (see link below) where I excerpted this from the second paragraph:

From what I've read here it seems there IS a problem in either quality control or under-engineering. The problem might show up early or late but moving sleeves is recall stuff In my opinion IF that really is the root problem. It's possible the root problem is that Harley just tried to get to much out of the old platform and got overheating as a result. I don't really know and, at this point, it's mostly informed conjecture I hear.

Even though I'm a newbie here & at 2 other similar sites, I know there are lots of posters here who hit all the forums.  That's fine & who really knows how qualified any of us are to give out advice.  I'm not attesting to be a technical expert for this subject & just enjoy the dialog as there's plenty of good info. passing around.

I've been at my computer all day reading & writing posts on this & other threads.  My brain is dead from it & I need a break.  Good luck in your mission to make your bike what you want it to be regardless of what Harley ever does.  Go for it & keep us posted.  I'm outta' here for the day!

I'm not being critical at all, investorbp. The more ink this issue gets the better. Most people want HD to fix this, and fix it now! I don't blame them, and I hope for the same. I've also seen this movie before, and don't expect this remake to yield any timelier results than earlier versions, if you catch my drift. This is HD, and corporate HD at that. But given that, they also probably will eventually fix it.

I probably would have done a bunch of engine work anyway, had it not leaked and been subject to inferior attempted repairs. But it did, and it happens to be mandatory now. Doing what I and others are doing, or doing what ya'll are doing by bringing it to the forefront. Whatever it takes to get the MoCo's attention and clean up the 110 mess. Flagship Bikes should have Flagship Engines! And it ain't rocket science! ;)

I am starting to feel very fortunate that I have a 103.  I feel for you all.  It must be frustrating as hell esp. for the guys that this has been twice now.  Makes me wonder if MoCo would react a little faster if some of these bikes came back to them under lemon laws.

It's started in Europe ( similar lemon laws) but the biker must sign a confidentiality contract !  :2vrolijk_21:
So, he must not write or speak about the replacement or reimbursement of the bike on the web.
