I PICKED UP MY BIKE FROM THE DEALER ON SATURDAY.  THE GASKET'S WERE REPLACED WITH PART #17052-99B.  THE SERVICE TICKET WORK DESCRIPTION SAID: "REPLACED HEAD GASKET W/HD PART FOR CVO LEAK.  INSPECTED ALL INTERNAL PARTS IN TOP END (NORMAL).  REPLACED ALL GASKETS & MO-RINGS IN TOP END".  TIME WILL TELL IF THIS HAS FIXED OR JUST PROLONGED THE PROBLEM.

17052-99B is a generic Twin Cam gasket set. It contains head gaskets for 88/96 and 95/103 bores, not 110" bores. Your dealer would throw out the four head gaskets in the kit and use the 16801-07? head gasket instead of what comes in the kit. That kit is used because it contains all of the other o-rings and gaskets that are needed to R&R the top-end.

You might want to check with the dealer to see which head gasket they actually installed.

CHIEF,  I'LL GO BY THE DEALER TODAY AND LET YOU KNOW.  THANKS,  REDMAN

THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID THE GASKET WAS THE THIRD GENERATION GASKET FROM HARLEY.  HE ALSO SAID IT SHOULD FIX THE ISSUE?  THIS DEALER HAS ALWAYS BEEN GOOD TO ME,  TIME WILL TELL IF THIS WORKS OR NOT.  THANKS,  REDMAN

I also posted in the American Iron forum.  My posts were reviewed and took almost a week to make it ...

Scott

I finally received an e-mail today from the AIM webmaster & my posts are all up.  The guy was on vacation but he states what they look for below.

Normally we don't moderate new posts, but if the first few of them have
links, or HTML coding, or certain key words that make the program think it
is SPAM, then we moderate them. I was on vacation last week and just went
through the new messages today. If your posts were acceptable, they will be
up there now.

I'm not being critical at all, investorbp. The more ink this issue gets the better. Most people want HD to fix this, and fix it now! I don't blame them, and I hope for the same. I've also seen this movie before, and don't expect this remake to yield any timelier results than earlier versions, if you catch my drift. This is HD, and corporate HD at that. But given that, they also probably will eventually fix it.

I probably would have done a bunch of engine work anyway, had it not leaked and been subject to inferior attempted repairs. But it did, and it happens to be mandatory now. Doing what I and others are doing, or doing what ya'll are doing by bringing it to the forefront. Whatever it takes to get the MoCo's attention and clean up the 110 mess. Flagship Bikes should have Flagship Engines! And it ain't rocket science! ;)

Just as n FYI, I had sent an e-mail regarding my leaky 110 to American Iron Magazine last week  Just a few hours ago I received a response from American Iron stating that at the time that issue was written (several months prior to the issues release) they had not seen the problems HOWEVER since that time they have received a lot more info.

From Chris' response to my e-mail "Lots has happened since that issue went to print. (We work way in advance. For example, we're just finishing the May issue.) Donny is putting together a full story on this problem with the 110s. It is a big problem."

I was very happy to see that AIMag is behind us and looking to dive deeper. I'm hopeful that the press will exert some pressure to get HD to bring this to a satisfactory resolution.

My SE Springer is getting two new cylinders, rings, and some kind of 4th gen head gaskets. Hope to pick it up tomorrow and start riding again!

I'ld like to thank you and Chief for this thread and the campaign to inform AIM about the 110 ci issues. Now that it appears they are actually going to look into this, maybe the light of day will make the MoCo respond.

Would like to think so.  Just wish they would spent half the time on r&d on motors that they do on styling - like 4 years on the Rocker according to the show on Speed channel last night.  All I want is a motor that won't leak oil or break.  Not too much to ask is it?

Based on the empirical data available to the general public, the answer is 'Yes'.  :(
