Just picked up my new SE Ultra.  I only have 150 miles on it since picking it up, but my wife and I will put a lot more on it this summer.  I left the exhaust stock, but put on the SERT and a different air cleaner and lots of chrome along with a trailer hitch.  The dyno run says 92 hp and 105 torque - rear wheel.

My story is an example of how irresponsibility and impulse buying can make you very happy...

I just returned from my 2nd tour in Iraq (2d Tank Bn, 2MarDiv) in early Oct 2005 and went drinking several towns over with friends I had deployed with.  Long before I graduated high school I had planned on someday buying a H-D (the first new vehicle I bought was a truck simply because I planned on towing my Harley between moves "someday").  Well, after waking up sometime around noon, we decided to stop at a H-D dealership that was on the way back home just to look around.  We walked in (some of us in the prior night's attire  ::)) and the first bike I saw was the 2005 SEFB, silver/slate gray.  Having combat pay in the bank + being single at the time + not many bills = eager to spend cash.  I sat on the bike and wanted it immediately (and hungover friends drooling at the bike helped).  I don't think I even loooked at the other bikes on their floor.  I flagged down one of the salespeople and started the paperwork that day.  My friends were good enough to hang around until it was all done.  I still get stupid-happy whenever I simply sit on the bike.

I'm married now, but the wife loves the bike too.  I saved an email where she told me that I could buy anything I wanted for the bike.  I'm hoping to use that as evidence if she tries to block any purchases.  I've been told by smarter men than I that it won't matter...

My father had said all his life I want to drive a Harley at least once in my life.  Well, it never did happen.  I have had a motorcycle since I was 14 (some 40 years ago) and in 2005 still had never ridden a Harley.

4th of July weekend 2005 my wife and I rented a Harley from a dealer in San Diego and road up the coast.  At the time I owned a Goldwing which I had owned for about 18 years.  The first of the 1500's.  It didn't take very long and my wife fell in love, after the first turn I think.  On the Goldwing she sat too high so when we went around sharp turns her stomach would start to go flip/flop.  On the Harley she sat lower and the bike actually pivoted around her, so her stomach felt great and she loved the sound.

Two weeks later we were looking at the dealers in the Phoenix area but their inventory of Ultra Classics was very limited.  However, within a week a red UC became available.  It was a rental that was being retired from the rental fleet with a few thousand miles on it.  With the money they were discounting for the rental useage we put into some customization like upgrading the 88cc to the 103, custom headers and a few other items.  Seemed like a great idea and the sound was loud, tuned and we both loved it.  So thanks to my dads original thoughts we now own a 2005 Ultra Classic with a screamin eagle 103.  The Goldwing was traded in and we now travel loud and proud.

OK, new here but sounds like I'm among fellow diseased folks.

Started back riding again the summer of 04, when a buddy shows up with his new 04 sportster. Damn him. Well fever set in and not sure how much I would ride, I get an 04 Honda Shadow 750cc. Well one month later I have an 04 low rider (lost big on the Honda). Then the 05s come out one month later and I make the mistake of sitting on an 05 Heritage. 6 hours later I have sold my low rider and called the dealer to tell them I'll take it. had the 05 for 18 months and the 07s have 6 sp and 96 CI motors soooo I got to have that of course. I get the white Heritage. about a year later I see the CVO RK and make the move over and get the black diamond and silver mist. 3 Months later I see the 105th in person and have fits over it. I wait another 6 months and decided to just go for it and the new just arrived. Stuck on CVOs now. I won't even go into my wife's story. I wish they would do a Deluxe in a CVO so I could get her one.

Bob
If they did a cvo deluxe, I do believe they would sell thousands and thousands of them.

A lot of smaller in size people find this bike to be a god send.  If they could get it covered in upgrades too?  I bet it would be a winner.

I decided it was time to get rid of the 2003 Ultra and had always wanted the 2005 CVO Electra Glide in Yellow.  Friends BT and Starbuck (members of this site) had the teal and red so I figured I would go with the yellow so we could have a matched set.  Anyway started looking and found one for sale in Joplin MI by our good friend TwoLane.  Made the deal and flew into Kansas City to pick it up for the ride home.  This was in October and man was it cold.  Don was good enough to trailer up to Kansas City from Joplin.  I love this bike and am now trying to decide if I am going to colour match my Bushtec trailer to tow or just sell it.

Cheers, CVOMOE

My story is short. I had a righteous Roadking that I loved. One evening when I was giving my Rk a second waxing, my wife asked me if I was to have another bike what would it be. Thought for a few minutes and said the only one that may get my attention would be the 2007 B/O SE Ultra. So. . . she bought it for me. End of story.

Yes I did. I sold it to my brother at a killer deal and on our first trip to the coast he wrecked it!  :'(  $9k worth of damage. He has since repaired most of it, but it just about makes me sick each time I see it. I'm sure he'll get it back to original. It was, well, my favorite scooter of all time. He broke a couple of bones, but mostly his pride. I felt pretty sorry for him. He really felt like crap that he wrecked it, especially since I was there when he did it. Hey, poop happens and I was more glad that he was more or less good and ok. Can't replace brothers!

I do like the SE Ultra and it's finally running well now for the time being. It's running at a steady 230 degrees, getting 41 mpg, and has all the  estras that I wanted. Waiting for the rear jug to come loose like all the others, but so far it's been holding out. I've managed to put approx 2,500 miles on it in the last couple of weeks. As with many others, I'm praying that the Moto will make good and do a recall when they get a cure for the leaky jugs. Word is that they are very close to that when we were at the P.O.T. in Las Vegas a few weeks ago. Of course we don't know what "close" is or for that matter "very".  :huepfenlol2:

Sorry to ramble on. Just something I do.
Later,

Just an update 45k  on the 06cuse.  V&H 2 into 1 added / Y pipe cracked at 30k.  Did not want to deal with that.  Cruise out twice this year - module once/handlebar switch once.  Did a 1250 day - Enid OK to St Augustine FL.  Rear exhaust valve toast.  HD acted like the extended would not pay.  I acted like it was their problem as a result of the Y cracking at 30K and I am deaf after loggin a mil on two wheels and not hearing when the Y pipe cracked.  HD decides to take care of it before I call Willy G's Secretary and xplain I have been 30 Harleys loyal and and not puttin up with this S__t.  Heated Grips out twice - Decided on Gloves no time for stoppin.  Radio - started out intermittent now just out - we'll see what HD says about that.  Could be the amp or the Head unit - just not sure.  But the bottom line is - I ride it & Love it - Wouldn't have anything else - SE RK or FLHTCUSE only.  I am headed to the 105 that will be another 3k and hope to have 60k on it by the end of the year - this is a keeper for sure - wish I had more power - also added a rear stabilizer by alloy art - Wow what a difference - only for those of us that ride at 90+.  Ride Safe

Found this baby on Craig's list of all places for 15K.
I wasn't really looking for a bike but when these first came out in 03 I said to my G/F I wanted one.
Then this came out on there I thought what the hell give the guy a call and see whats up with this.
It turns out the guy is fricken loaded with cash and when I asked why is he selling it so cheap he says it's 5 years old and I want a new Street Glide.
Then he goes on that he put 6k in the engine before it even left the Dealer new and that he paid 39k for it out the door.
So after also telling me that there was only 4500 miles on it I told him SOLD I'll be down there tomorrow for it.
Now after owning one I'll never buy another standard bike.
