I guess in my small mind I continue to envision a system within MOCO that keeps the dealerships informed with the latest information - especially when they have a chronic problem to fix. For every post that states their dealer has told them there is a new cylinder and new cylinder part number - there is another post that states their dealer has told them the opposite. It still seem inconceivable to me there are so many dealers that state they have no knowledge of the problem, other dealers that state knowledge of new components or some "fix", and others that know of no new components or "fix". All in all, not a good example of acceptable communication, much less an acceptable response to the problem.
I have no memory of believing in fairy tails as a young child...I wonder why I do now? Wishful thinking, I guess...
It's not even that simple Scott! They can't even figure out what story to tell. They say they're getting new cylinder P/N. Check this out:
From '07 SERK Parts Manual:
17285-07 Cylinder Assembly , w/16195-99A (Dowel Pin Rin, ring-4), Black (2)
They don't list the cylinder only.
Also from my Parts Manual, the Head Gasket P/N is
16775-99B, Gasket, Cylinder Head. WTF???
Now check this one out:
November 2007 rear cylinder replaced with Part # 17285-07A and head gasket 16801-07A. 2,000 miles later, leaks again...going in 1/29/08 for repairs the second time, along with letter sent to MoCo with customer ticket # stating if MoCo can't fix it this time...reimburse me my $$ back or new (different model of course) motorcycle.
Good luck to all with the leaky 100's.....
Notice the cylinder assembly P/N. Sure looks like a new P/N to me. GR states that goes back to Nov, '07. They're still scrambling to replace cylinders with what now??? And the head gaskets with what now???

It's not fairy tales. It's a complete non-fix for this and they're still dicking us around in the process of hoping this just goes away!

Hoist!
