I think I am being given the Song and Dance
« on: February 11, 2008, 09:59:05 AM »

Folks on the forum, I have a question. I am recieving my new SEUC on March 28th and I have been talking to the dealer on what other options I want. I want the tour pack quick disconnect or what ever it is called. This means relocating the antenae. CB and radio. First qeustion: is there an antenna that will do both and can it be locted on the front like the radio antenna...I believe it is a wire that is taped on the windshield? Second, is it a big deal(the dealer seems to think so) to install  the hardware for the removal of the tour pack when you dont want it n the bike? Third: Is there better hardware out there for this removal? I already think I know the answer to the amp and speakers, it wont hurt to remove them from the radio circuit, but if I am wrong what do I have to do for this? Fourth: Along with the hardware to remove the Tour Pack I want to install a small sissy bar and pad for the rear passenger, is this doable or just Harley BS?  I know this has been done and talked about so any input would be helpful and appreciated. Part numbers will support my case to the dealer..."Here Mr. Dealer, this is the list of parts I need to remove the tour pack and relocate my antennae and install quick disconnect sissy bar and back rest." Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks
DJ

Hey, at least you get a song and dance at your dealership! All I ever get is "why would you want to do that ", or "it can't be done". Actually it's a pretty easy job if you are handy with tools. Lots of info here if you search enough. You will lose the CB unless you get very creative though. Good luck.

If you are ok with tools & have a little patience, you can do it yourself & save $$.

Amp removal/relocation is the reason some dealers won't touch it.

Not taking time to read all the links but can you really combine the AM/FM w/ the CB and bury them?

For the AM & FM you can most that do the mod mentioned don't use a CB anyway so you can not bury it (CB ATT.), It must have an ant. be it short or whip in order for it to work.

If you wish to remove the tour pack and the CB Function pehaps you bought the wrong style bike, Just get a Road Glide and save some bucks, the money you save you can spend on a CVO paint job. Your paying for stuff you don't need or want, But however It's choice.

Notice the CB ant. (pix from another thread)

Actually, a lot of us like to have the convenience the tour pack/Cb/two up seat, etc. that the Ultra has to offer, yet also have the sleek lines, solo seat and look of the RG too. The detachable tour pack, new seat and Hawg wired system are the way to go! A 5 to 20 min. change over time after installation, depending on seat manufacturer.  And yes, besides the FLHTCUSE2 we also have an '07 flhx(with a detachable tp), so it's like having 4 bikes.

I bought a 12 volt powered antenna form Pep Boys that mounts inside the front fairing so I dont have to change antenna connections when I put on or take off detachable tour pack. I gets pretty good reception, probably around 75 miles. Having XM satellite radio is the reason for elimination of rear antenna, I probably listen to XM 90 % of the time. I have never used the CB radio so I just leave it coiled up under seat. I leave both antennas on the tour pack but they are not functional. If anyone has a suggestion on what to cover up holes in tour pack if they are removed would be appreciated.
Good luck with the project. Worth every penny for me.
