If Porsche engineering designs it, the MOCO will try and build it and try to sell it.  :nixweiss:

Be a hard sell to most of us 'seasoned' types I think, espeically when the Screamin Eagle Prestone Antifreeze,  Chrome Radiator hoses, Stealth Eagle fan belts, and teh Feuling water pumps, and  get priced out.  :2vrolijk_21:

With EPA rules and regulations concerning emissions and noise it is inevitable that there will be a water cooled full line of bikes by HD

I could live wiwth the engine and performance but they need to get a more traditional frame look for my taste.

The "air cooled" purists fought water boarding at Porsche too, but the water cooled cars out perform the air cooleds hands down in many ways.

The time will come, I hope I am around and able to try one when it does.  At least if it comes in the next 5 to ten years I'll most likely be on one.

The water cooled P-cars may outperform the old air cooled one, but they lost their soul. They lost the smell and sound that made them what they are. There's nothing like the pre-996 911's. I fear the same thing would happen to HD.

...oh wait, does that say Harley-Davidson on that air box cover?? Why I think it does...

It's too late, water cooled is coming.... :o

Harley-Davidson engineers worked WITH Porsche engineers, they TESTED the design at the Porsche R & D facility in Germany. Porsche did NOT and does NOT make the Revolution engine, it's made in Kentucky. The reason Harley went to Porsche's R & D facility was because Harley was not about to build a multi million dollar test plant for the development of the motor. Some, maybe most, do not care for it but it is still a Harley-Davidson, they have sold thousands of them and the have helped the company's overall sales and increased the company's market share. The design is proven and dependable. No it is not a Fat Boy or a Road King or a Deuce but it is a Harley-Davidson. The same Americans that build all the other Harley-Davidson motorcycles build water cooled bikes too. The same company that designed the Revolution and the V-Rod designed all the other models.

I think it will be a fair amount of time before we will not be able to buy an oil cooled V-Twin and even after that there are millions of them still out there. I would bet that none of us will live long enough to see a time when the only bikes built are water cooled.

So it's okay, let them build Revo Road Glides or Street Glides or Fat Boys I'm sure they won't replace all the lines at once. The folks at Harley are not stupid they will not throw away this massive marketing and sales niche because the EPA forces them to build cleaner running engines. Harley wants to broaden and maintain it's market not turn away from it. If there are future models coming that are water cooled I'm sure they'll be introduced with caution and intelligent planning.

I agree they have changed there is nothing like a 67' Camaro with a 396 or my friends 69' Vette with a 327 4 speed. You can still find them. HD may someday go that way but you'll still be able to get an old one. Which much like an Old Vette they have way more class then today's designs.
