PS
Thanks for the input on the TB and JG's exhaust preferences. Bubba_T's 03 SERK Mackie build should be about 5% below yours by my calcs, but real strong and without a fairing or TP on the back, I expect quick as well. Maybe I can get Beagle to snap some shots of the Mackie heads when they get here tomorrow.

Anytime Brian.  Last time we talked about them John seemed to have the same impression of the Bassani I did for appearance (yuck).  But he said they were a good option for true duals as part of good tune for torque compared to other duals.  Fatcats even better for early torque.  But, just as it was a hard decision for me to finally make, not all dresser guys can get away from their duals.

Its funny...I like the 2-1 for keeping the left side cool...Makes the ice last longer!

H'mm, and for keeping the bottle of water hanging on the bag guard from being ready for tea.

Well you know you've got me wondering now. Me and Beags always said that Hooker slip-ons were the best torque muffs you could get and Bubba_T's SERK had those PLUS the funky Bassani head pipes when I rode it home from the shippers awhile back. I have to say, that SERK ran strong for a bone stock 103. Sooooooooooo  I'm wondering with the way Mackie does his head work, the DM598G Cams we're getting from him, if they combination of the Bassani pipes and Hooker slip-ons might not create a Torque monster. Bubba(Ken) and I have been kicking this around a bit with the wrench assembling the motor and we're gonna heat cycle it, run it about 350 miles and then put it on the dyno with what we've got. If it sucks, we'll probably go with the Bassani muffs to match the pipes since you're saying that's JG's recommendation on true-duals. Ken is for sure a dual exhaust guy and I have to admit, I think a big ass bagger looks odd with the blank left side, but I know the 2 into 1's run better. Anyway, more as we go. I just got a call from UPS, the stuff from Mackie is being delivered today.

The things we get hung up on.....  That choice, finally going 2-1 was probably the hardest choice to make of the entire build up.

For years I'd run duals with the White Brothers E Series.  Then Tommy White sold out and the new folks eventually stopped doing that muffler.  That was a good torque combination for duals on a bagger.  And I REALLY like the open right side you get with true duals and the dual look from the rear.

The Reinharts didn't do a lot for me.  Were also louder than I cared for.  Nothing else worked as well as what I'd had before.

So, finally, after lots of liquid sedative and contemplation and homework I made the 2-1 plunge.  Am quickly getting used to the look.  Quicker than I thought I would.  It's probably easier because the bike looks like it's going to run so damn well :2vrolijk_21: .

B B, the jump from duals can be a hard one.  That's affirmed.  You can get decent or better torque with some good combinations though.

When the 598 cam was in with the old (crappy) heads and duals it came in late.  There was torque.  But it didn't pull hard until 4k.  Until then it was a nice grandma station wagon slowly accelerating up the onramp.

Looking at the specs of that cam it could have done better.  The delay was in the rest of the motor and not that cam.  At least that's what I always thought.  That's why I used that cam when I did.  I could band aid the prior mess (and it did quite adequately) and then be a very good choice for the rest of the Resurrection.  A very good choice with my combination now it does seem to be.

Am looking forward to the gold SERK's experiences with the cam and exhaust and the rest of it.  The figuring things out is sometimes half the fun.

I found that when I put the KTP on it hides a little noise too...The RH is a little on the loud side when romped on but I have gotten used to the rumble around 2800, it ain't too bad.  I didn't know about the D&D's( iI like the look better than the tapered RH) before I plunged into the RH, oh well.

I spent a stupid amount of time doing homework on the different exhaust options.  In the end of it all the FatCat 2-1 did seem an excellent option for a build with early torque in mind.  I also did not want too noisy.  Fortunatey the FatCat with their "quiet baffle" commonly reported better early torque than their alternatives.  So it was a win-win relative to my particular desires.

Made it a point to listen to as many as I could before pulling the trigger.  The RH's were louder than I personally was looking for if I had an option.  The RH duals I'd had were also louder than I cared for.  The quality of the exhaust was nice.  It's quantity was not.

Not much time at all on these FatCats yet but first impressions are good.  Fit and finish are immaculate.  They are milky smooth to the touch.  The exhaust note and volume are both nice too.  Then, of course, it looks like they are going to perform very well.  The most important thing; in strong and early.

I didn't spend any time on anything as usual, just like buying the bike...I see, I want, I get....It perfroms well enough (but T7's may help with some more flow through the heads, but who) and the old run her rich trick has kept temps low.  It hasn't started to leak.............yet.   :nervous:

If you got it cool enough and wet enough to not leak and still run good that is a major victory.  Ride it and smile :drink: !

Plugs are cheap.... :drink:

I was amazed at how cheap the little tube rivets were (I rebuilt a KTP) only $2.75 for 20 at the stealer!
