6'1" with a 10.5" Clearview with recurve and works for me.  Don't forget to install the chrome air fork baffle between the triple trees.  No vent-those are for Wings not Glides.   :)

I look about 1" over the top, don't like to look thru.

For those of you trying to decide what length shield to buy, your height is a concern but actually your torso length is more important to get the right height. Your shield should come right to the bottom of your nose in you normal riding position so you are just looking over the shield.
Two guys can be the same height but one guy is all legs and another with short legs their shields may need to be different. It also matters if you ride upright or slumped over too.
I am 6'2" but short legs. I used a method with a yardstick and discovered 14" was my proper shield height. I love my Clearview shield with the recurve.

Can you put the recurve on an Ultra?

Capo,
A must have for your Ultra and only a 4 min install even for someone like me.

Got it I just changed to the H-D 12 inch and it was an improvement-I was amazed it took me longer to get the tools out then change it right there on the parking lot!

Thanks

BINGO! Most people do not consider this. Also important for seat height, etc.

Do the Recurve windshields affect the bike handling?  The wind buffets my Duracell as it is (in addition to my head).  I am going to be riding the German Autobahn this fall at speeds well over the legal limit here in the US, so I would not want to adversely affect the high speed handling of the bike.

P.S. I'm 5' 7" on a good day, so I emphasis with Capo!   I am still debating if I will change the seat (but it feels so nice), lower the bike or live with it regarding the bike height.  I have heard lowering adversely affects the high speed handling or I would have already lowered the front and back an inch.!

I am 5'9" most days, and my head is almost rattled off by the buffeting.  I need a quick fix for this problem as I am about to take off on a ride down to the south of England, so I am picking up a stock 12" screen today.  I will let you guys know if that solves the problem.  I really would like the clearview 12" recurve, but it's over 8 weeks shipping to the UK, and by that time my head will have dropped off!
Hey Megavolt, Will we see you at the Faakersee Bike fest in Sept?

I bought a standard height smoked HD windshield for my USE, that's all I've used on all the E-Glides (8) I've ever owned.  For me I'm happy  ;D
I have read about the F4 windshields, and they have a coating that seems to be pretty much scratch proof.  If I would have known about them before, I think I would try one.  It seems like after a couple riding season, the HD ones start collecting some scratches no matter how careful I am with them.  -Just my 2 cents.

The stock shield caused too much buffeting for me so I put a 12"HD on and it cured that right up. Problem was, riding on very windy days, the bike was thrown all over the place. I have an 8" recurve on now but still too much buffeting so I think I will go with a 10" recurve. Had the bike up to 115mph with the HD 12" and no problems there other than alot of wind drag slowing me down.

Probably not this year because the Army sends personal stuff over using nothing that moves faster then the ocean current.  I expect that by Thanksgiving or Christmas I will get my stuff if I ship it in mid August.  Perhaps things are faster now, but that was my experience the last time I moved overseas.

Pitty, but gook luck on your move to Germany.  I had over 14 years there in the past 34, and loved every one of em!

Hi Guys,
HELP!  I went for a ride out on the new Duracell and was surprised at the amount of wind buffeting I got at over 60mph.  The wind nearly shook my head off at one point and I had to duck down behind the windshield.  The windshield I have on is stock, and is just 9 1/2" high in the centre.  I can see a clear 6" over the top in my normal sitting position.  I believe the standard height of a windshield is supposed to be 12", although I see some of you guys riding with just the wind deflector which is about 4" high!  Your heads must be bolted on!
I would sure appreciate some advice on this before I go and shell out some cash for a new windshield that may be too small or large!
 ;) :nixweiss:
Cheers,

Jazz

It's a Motorcycle expect wind  ;D You might try a different Helmet or Helmet with a visor.  Save your money (for a different helmet)  IT's not the windsheild.
