Don,
Are those backs the regular or the large size?  Are you having any issues with the Ost, seat pressing out?  I was told not to get the Ost because it will eventually press out.  I wanted to go lighter to brighten up the bike a bit but ended up ordering the baby black gator middle with black snake on the sides...will show pics when it comes in...they say 4-6 weeks.  Thanx for all of the information and views...cant wait for it to get here now.

Seegarz

Those are all the "standard" sized backrests (Corbin 02-SB).  Two issues (for me) with the large in times past that I avoid now.  The large wasn't as comfortable becasue it went beyond that "pocket" in my back that the backrest seemed best to rest in.  And it's large enough in outside diameter it intrudes on a passengers legs.

The ostrich seat was a used piece when I got it.  Believe to be 15k miles or so on it.  I've added another five.  Had read the same warnings you'd seen.  So far it shows no signs of losing the print/impression in the leather.  Mrs We has a solo of the same material with many more miles on it.  She reported when I got this one that hers looked ok also at last so far as the ostrich impression was concerned.

Just read a PM asking what the Road Glide seat will look like.  After having gotten the nerve to get that tan seat for the red bike I learned better that a seat really can stand out from the bike without diminishing the bike itself; at least to a point.  So it need not be primarily black.

Since the SERG is a triple red bike I screwed my nads on real tight that day and ordered a triple red seat too.  It'll be like this:

2000 Road Glide
Dual tour seat for bike with tour pak

Seat Panels: Red Leather
Side Panels: Burgundy
Stud Panels: Candy Red Vinyl
Welt Cord: Burgundy
Studs: Chrome
Stitching Pattern: "Dual Tour"
Heated: Yes

02-SB Standard Oval Backrest (qty 1)
Seating Panel: Red Leather
Side Panel: Candy Red
Welt Cord: Burgundy
Back Plate: Chrome

The red leather is a relatively bright red.  It should have some visual pop to it.  The intermediate side panel is a darker red and the lower side panel is the burgundy; darkest of all.  Was fading the look down to the painted areas on the bike that they will meet in various areas.

Got a chopped tour pak's backrest to recover to match the seat that's being done at the same time.  Then got real lucky and got a pair of those leather clad side covers for the tour pak rak on eBay a couple weeks ago for less than $20.  Have some of the burgundy material coming to get those reskinned here locally.  So it'll be a materials match front to back with the color scheme complementing throughout (I hope).

All the stock leather pieces can store in the nice Corbin box when it gets here and the Road Glide will be one more step toward comfortable.

I can only say I REALLY like the material.  It is almost what I ordered when I got a seat for the red bike the first time.  I just didn't have the balls to pull the trigger on something that bright.  So did the black with the red welts to tie it to the bike.  But I wanted the ostrich then.

TC saw this tan one for sale used somewhere and pointed me toward it.  Got it for a steal.  Seat, both backrests and a tour pak backrest hockey puck for $425.00.  Cheap enough it was ok to take the risk.  Just love it.  It's my favorite of the two.  Black one is only on right now for the butt warmer.  After the Sedona trip it'll go on the shelf until late fall.

Not quite.  Definitely not a patent leather or vinyl shiny kind of red.  But definitely a vibrant red.  Holding the color patches they sent me of all their reds up against the bike their "red leather" looked to be a pretty strong match to bright red of the three reds in the bike's paint scheme.  I think after getting it leather dressed a couple of times to darken/richen it up just a bit and take the new shine of off it it's going to be very sharp on the bike.

Have you ever wanted it on high for more than a couple of minutes warmup?

I never use high.  I used to tell my daughter it was on HIGH before she figured it out and there were 2 settings.  She thinks her job is to turn the seat on when it's cold.

Never thought you'd sink to this level, however, I cannot say I'm surprised.
