My son's Summer Job
« on: July 02, 2008, 06:23:11 PM »

My son, Pete, is going to school in New Hampshire, NHCTC.  It's a Caterpillar sponsored school to become a Cat diesel mechanic. Finished his first year back in May.

His summer co-op job is with Milton Cat in Scarborough ME. I do have to say that they have been treating him really well, room & board during the week, gas card and pretty good apprentice pay.

JR was a great asset and gave us a lot of advice on getting Pete into this program as he has been working for Cat for a lot of years, God Bless you my friend. ;)

Pete sent a few pictures, so being the proud Dad I wanted to pass them along. His first solo project is to replace the wiring harness in the skid steer.

I'll pass that along, although I'm sure he'll give me the same look as when I tell him he'd better do a good job. ;D

It was his decision to go into this field. He got a lot of flak from some of his other family members for not wanting to go to a 4 year school. I wanted it to be his idea. He went for it and told me he really enjoys it. Got to be happy first.

Scott,
That's one of his favorite things about the job. Dad they me drive this, they let me operate that.

The other day they're driving a huge loader around the yard. He's standing in the cab with the mechanic. The mechanic is driving and Pete is trouble shooting, with his laptop....

God bless him for following his heart.  It will work out just fine.  Only trouble is, everything is so darn heavy to lift, move, remove, replace, fix (insert own verb).  I'll bet one link of the backhoe track is 100 lbs.  You should be very proud of him Ed.
