Hey Tim and Mike, I definitely will inform the guy with the green FXR3. But i really told him that I'm very interested in it and probably will take it. He hasn't called me back yet as it's still up "for Sale". But I definitely am going to do so. On another note, I was thinking(brain burning) that the first guy with the FXR2 Arresting red...... well he was interested in an ultra classic. I'm wondering if he would like my 05 ultra ? it just turned 4,400 mi. Lava red sunglow, turn down spokes, Rinehart Trueduals, Power Commander, K&N air filter and stage one download. 5K.mi service done at 2,800mi. Full synthetic and some extra  chrome? What do you think it would be worth?

Best, George

George.....

I have no idea what a 2005 Ultra's value would be today, I have a hard enough time understanding the value of the two bikes I own as well as keeping up with maintenance of them..... LOL

But as my feelings are about the touring platformed bikes....Actually I would never know how to advise about the merits of an Ultra as they are just way too "bulky" of a bike for my body size as well as overall tastes, ie: look, form, and function. (5' 10 1/4" with orthodics and boots and a 165 lbs) as compared to a road king "model" type of bike as I do personally own a 2002 RKC. I would go to a 2002 Road King Standard if I were thinking about having two bikes and was perhaps not enjoying the "merits" of an Ultra persay, if that happens to be the message you are relaying within the statement of "pondering" trading your 2005 Ultra for an 1999 FXR2.

You have never mentioned your body size ie: height and aprx weight.....but I if your wife does actually enjoy riding with you on the back and you do tour together....I believe there is enough supporting evidence that says while one is very much capable of touring on an FXR with a passenger, the "touring" platformed "twin cam" bikes will offer a bit more enjoyment to the passenger's experience specificially in these areas:

~stock for stock the engine power plant of a twin cam provides more response via the twin cam touring platform...although if you throw enough money at the FXR evo bike you will reduce that seperation....but then if you throw enough money at the twin cam touring bike that seperation becomes widened once again.....

~forgetting the "ultra" for a moment and focusing on a road king or road king classic or a road king custome or a road glide for that matter or even a street glide.....you do have more substantial packing options given that the touring framed bikes have options exceeding that of an FXR.  Of course the "ultamite" touring bike being the "Ultra" from this point of view.......

Now when you focus on "one up" riding.....ie: no passenger.....personally I would rather own a road king type model over the package of an Ultra ie: weight, presentation, and performance.......but this falls under the catagory of "personal" taste....

I guess my point is, owning two bikes for me is the answer of trying to make only one bike do everything which is impossible to do.....and for me those two bikes are answered with my FXR2 as well as my 2002 RKC, there is enough differences in the bikes that allow them to be unique and offer differing riding experiences for both rider and passenger......

My final point is if I were to move to a "third" bike it would be another FXR but I wouldn't "personally" find it that interesting to own two CVO FXR's....if I were only going to own two bikes.

So what are you really thinking here?

Regards,

Tim

Well well well, I guess I can say that since I retired I gained approx. 15 lbs. So now I can call myself a "Fat Body". I'm 5'8", now 190lbs. I guess have can go back to the gym now that my plantar faciaitis  is 95% gone and after spending many dollars just on the co-pays to the podiatrist and another $450.00 for orthopedic inserts. They do help alot, lol. Regarding my wife( possible my soon to be ex-wife) She won't get on a bike anymore. She says she only did it for me when she did ride with me, and that was only (<20) a few times as she it deadly afraid of riding period.

So Again I'll need your help. I don't know how long the bike is. I guess I'm going to cut an opening on the side of my new wooden 8' X12'. I hope it will fit in there, I guess I will have to insulate it and I hope I can get some sort of heat for the winter time. Maybe one of those propane heaters??? or a large propane tank with baseboard radiators??? Any suggestions fellows???    Thanks, George :-* :coolblue: :nixweiss:
PS: I'm thinking of selling the 05 Ultra w/4,400 mi. Red lave sunglow, Rinehart true duals, K&N air filter, Stage one download, Power Commander, Chrome turn down spokes, HD Alarm, Hand held microphone  yet to be installed and in the package, plus the boom mike and some other Chrome goodies. So Tim, Red, If I sell it Maybe I can still get the FXR2 also. Just thinking about it,lol   Best to all, George. Semper Fi to you brother Blaine.

The length of the FXR3 is 92.75" or 93"   OR  7' 9.75"

Well since your wife isn't riding with you....and an "affraid" rider is not a "good" passenger.....anyway.....you really don't need that ULTRA...for your size and weight....the FXR3 is going to BE PERFECT!!!!! and when your wife does do those "short" rides on occassion you will find the FXR3 appropriate to the task....if you were doing some huge touring with the both of you....I would suggest perhaps a Road King model at a minimum....

Hey George what state are you located?

Tim

Well, if she goes......your problem is solved.  Build a ramp and keep the scooter in the house where it belongs anyway.  :)har.  spyder
