Thanks again Iski. Got around to checking mine today and got the same 0905 enhancement listing. It's funny, after NOT paying attention to this site (and others) with the number of posts on the 110, I bought it anyway, and although there's only 3k+miles, the paranoia had me looking for leaks whenever I got back home(None found) I love the bike but since they are going to eviscerate it, I wonder will it be the same? The knowledge you guys have shared has been incredible, but after living through this bu!! sh*p in one form or another over the years, don't you get pi$$ed? I guess after rereading my post, since I bought it anyway, I answered my own question. Disregard. I will self destruct in 5 seconds. But thanks.

If and when the fix finally gets to the dealer, I'm really considering having the fins on the cylinders diamond cut while the bike is down. Maybe they will offer new ones to those in the south and I can those cut without loosing any more down time than I have to. Wishful thinking though.

I've been waiting 18 months to have my heads diamond cut after seeing 2ln's. I'm still waiting to make sure this is the last time...

CN - I had read enough here to know about 110's that leaked & had heard from my dealer about an engine swap out on a 110 prior to taking delivery.  This may sound strange, but my dealers honesty on that engine swap was one of the reasons I went ahead & pulled the trigger & bought the bike.  Reading about dealers who claim there are "no 110 problems & it's just internet BS" makes me scratch my head where the hair used to be & wonder howthehelltheystayinbusiness?

Others on this forum know a lot more about these bikes than I ever will, & I would tell them thanks except their egos are already huge enough.  Naw, just kidding - most of those who post here are truly great folks & when you meet them in person you find out they love bikes.  Great people - great riders! Even love their bikes that leaked once upon a time.  This forum - thanks to Neal - naitram - is the best info source for Harleys - anywhere.  Info posted here saves time & money in the long run.

As to your eviscerated question - my bike looks the same & runs the same after they fixed it.  Confidence level dropped during that time but its rebuilding now.  Th letter HD is sending will introduce another firestorm of speculations - that's what these things do but HD is smart to step up - man up - and admit what everybody already knows & state how they will make it right.

You have a sense of humor & since I've been riding bikes almost 40 years now - ya gotta have a sense of humor to ride about on 2 wheels.  A little extra sense of humor is more helpful if those 2 wheels are rolling a Harley down the road.

This is one time (rare!) Howie said this much better is far fewer words: "But look at all the fun we get to have because of it!"

Around $500 or so if you figure in shipping.  Should take around 2 weeks.  Considering this myself.

Another dumb question: Is there any chance of the tuning settings getting wacked after taking motor apart/battery disconnect? Are the numbers just flashed into ECM module or do they stay in memory? I wouldn't think the new parts' tolerances should be different enough to need a new run but gotta ask now. I now offer up an global thanks to all who keep helping so I don't have to keep repeating it. THANKSSSSSSSS>>>>>>....

I asked the same question when mine was rebuilt.

Answer I got was:  as long as you put it back exactly like it was, no need to re-tune or re-flash the ecm (memory stays).  I rode it easy for a while, just to see how it did, and when I let 'er rip later, it ran as good as ever.  Still does.

Not necessary but with new cylinders figured I'd let it heat cycle a few times just to be sure.

CN,
if you have used the SERT to reprogram your ECM then you won't loose that. I would imagine it would be the same for a "flash" also. Your ECM has been alterd and it will stay that way until it's alterd again. A Power Commander overrides your ECM and once you unplug it, the settings will still be in the PC and your bike's ECM will still have the stock map in it.

I need some advice. I called my dealer today and he said if I'm not having problems with the bike now to bring it in at the end of the season here in upstate NY to get the work done. I have 3,000 on my 08 SERK now and have had no problems. I'm not really wild about the dealership tearing my topend apart. I almost feel ripped-off in a way. I asked him if there was a time limit to get this done and he said as I'd be alright waiting till October or so as long as i'm not having any problems. Anyone else really disapointed by all this almost to the point of feeling betrayed?

Hello Ace...I've got an 08 that has already been in for the leak. SEE http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=25324.msg411650#msg411650 There is an initial onslaught of emotion that I think everyone goes through but in the end each and every time I get in the saddle all the BS HD has put us through goes away. This is a great bike and unfortunately this is the BS we have to put up with if we're to continue riding these 110's. FWIW it does seem to get easier to swallow as time goes on.

I too am from Upstate, what dealer are you doing business with??

GH,

Thank you for your insight on this issue. I think you're right and the reason I feel so betrayed is I really do love riding this bike. I have not even had any problems yet but feel like I'm just waitng for it to happen now. I mentioned this to the daughter of the owner of the dealership and just got a comment on how "bad the internet is for spreading rumurs-just ride it". It must be easy to say that if you have not dropped 30 large on a bike like we have. I think the MOCO needs to keep in touch with their customer base. The attitude conveyed today was one of "oh well-sorry". BTW I'm talking abut Performance HD in Syracuse.

Hi Ace.  Bet you're like me and damned tired of hearing this kind of bs about internet rumors.  Only problem (for the moco) is that these 'rumors' about the 110s are 100% true.  I do agree that if you're not having problems, just ride it and enjoy it.  Like you and GH I was really bummed about tearing into the top end of my motor but after having this done twice, new starter & ACRs and finally a new motor I guess I'm over it.  Bike has 37k on the clock now and while extremely clean and no dents or dings it does show some very, very slight signs of age and use.  If you ride 'em you can't keep 'em showroom perfect.  I want a bike to ride, not to sit in the garage and admire.  Have a friend with several very expensive classic cars and he gets no enjoyment at all from them.  Keeps them in a garage with dust covers on them waiting for them to appreciate in value.
