Hi Alejandro.......

Singapore is a nice place.  However the +80 deg heat makes the engine extremely hot - now have sizzled gonads!!

Mentioned the recall to the dealer - just shrugged.      I suppose I will have to wait for a letter.

Cheers

Dropped mine off yesterday for the 0906 campaign. They said it would be done by the weekend. We'll See!

Dawg,
I agree with you that higher production numbers are a cause of more bikes still sitting on the floor today, but disagree that the problems with the 110's is why the CVOs are still on the floor.  I think the CVOs are still sitting on the floor with both the combination of higher production numbers and the current state of the economy.  Motorcycles are considered luxuries even though they get better gas mileage, and people are pinching their pennies a little more today and are not willing to shell out $35K for a motorcycle like they were a couple of years ago when gas was cheaper and the economy was a little better.  IMHO I think it's just a sign of the times that there are still 08 CVOs sitting on the floor and actually has nothing to do with the engine.  Most people outside of this forum don't have a clue about the head gasket and crank run-out issues and unless they happen upon this site before they buy a CVO, they're not going to know and will buy the bike, or like some of us, bought the bike anyway, even knowing the potential issues.  Harley is cutting back on production for 09 and I think you'll see less 09's on the floor at the end of the year, simply because there will be less 09's made.  That's my story and I'm sticking to it!   ;)

Same situ north of the border. As the elder Bush found out "Its the economy %#*#"  :-\

Concur that most people outside this forum are not even aware of the scope of the problem or the fix. I just completed a 5500 km ride to the east coast of Canada with 28 HD's including 6 CVO 110's. None of them knew anything about the problem.  :nixweiss: Ran into 2 other during the ride who had done the gasket job but where not aware of the "enhancement".  :nixweiss: :nixweiss:

My 08 SERK is in for the work as we speak and I pick it up tommorrow. (2 day turnaround including some other work) Hope to be able to see the parts they replace and get some understanding of what MoCo had in mind technically.

By the way, awesome trip and if you ever get a chance to get to Newfoundland, take it. These people rock  :drink:

No you are fine per the MOFOCO as your engine has the new parts.  Even some of late built 08 models have the revised parts as well.

Got mine back yesterday with the completed 0906 re-call so they delivered as promised. Much to my surprise they actually called on Thursday to tell me it was done and in the wash line. So let me give a little credit where credit is due on a fine job from my dealer Cleveland Harley-Davidson Sales Co. or Schmidty's, what alot of us local's call it. I know it's an inconvenience and plain out frustrating to have to go thru this but they did everything service wise to make me a satisfied customer and I thought they deserved a little recognition. :2vrolijk_21:

575 miles and no problems (knock on wood)  :nervous:  Personally I think they have made progress, last spring they were leaking all over the showroom floors and during the past couple months I haven't seen any leaking.  Of course this could be due to the fact that I called the MoCo up during their denial campaign and mentioned their bikes peeing all over the floors.

Got mine back yesterday!
I have the 08 SEUC on White/Silver.
Dealer noticed as he had it all apart and very visable the powder coating was flaking off of the rear cylinder.
He visited with MOCO and they totally replaced entire cylinder.
I also had V/H True Duals put on using my stock S.E. Mufflers for now.
(Concerned with Warranty)
Did not need any fuel mgmt , or SERT, all ran well.
On the Dyno lost a little H.P. and Gained a little Torque.
But hopefuly it is going to be a cooler ride!
For the Breif ride home all seems well.
Will know more after logging a few miles.

Sawyer,
I also have the 08 SilverMist/White and also had the cylinders replaced because of flaking. I am also getting flaking on the Oil Filter Housing and the Transmission Housing. My Tour Pack lid is also flaking paint around the bases of where the luggage rack mounts to the lid. All those area's are being warrentied by Harley. If you put a SERT on your bike they can fatten it up with fuel and it will cool it down even more. I have reinhart slip-on's on mine. Just thought I would share experiences with you because of the same bike.

Desert Bear,

Thank you, I will keep an eye on those other areas as well.
I will look to put a SERT on bike after Warranty Expires.
Good to hear of your Results!

Hi Folks...............
Well, just took my 2007 CVO Road King out for the first run.
Just had a service done as had just bought it - 1000 miles (1600km) onthe clock.

After had been going for just ove an hour travelling at about 60mph in 5th gear.
neutral light came on and started to glimmer and glow off and on, pulled over and
stopped the bike and it was vibrating really really badly, and smoke from the engine.
Could hardly hold onto the bars.......

Turned it off and saw all of the left had side covered in oil.  Hasketes looked OK.
It appeared to be coming from the front of the engine - possibly around the oil cooler
area - and also some was dripping out of the air cleaner................ :soapbox:

Everything standard, no mods of any kind - no recall yet.

Anyone any ideas, as I am clueless as to things mechanical.

Thanks....................

Really worried me - although under warranty

I hate to bring bad news, but not much coming your way for a Dyna unless Europe is any different than USA market.  The "product enhancement"  (not  a recall) for your bike is to replace bolt in the crank, replace ACR's and head gaskets.
No heads, Jugs or pistons.  Read the threads beginning to end, all of the info is there....

I forgot.......a book
