Oh I understand where you were coming from and I won't argue with any of your points. And since I'm not in the market for a new bike right now it's a mute point except for the fact that I want to see innovation from the moco.
On a different note for the 2010's besides a different power plant I would like to see a better electronics package. I think about the bucks they've missed out on or cost us because of an inferior GPS. I would like to see a fully integrated bluetooth package and a USB port too. I never even think about CD's anymore. I hope they've solved the wobble issue with the new frame and also the uncomfortable butt burner seat problem with the 2009 models. Safety and comfort issues shouldn't exist on a first class touring model.

Someone ought to go back and do the Rumor to Truth ratio for the '09's...

I was pondering this last night, the trike came to fruition, the exhaust under the back of the frame - was wondering what else was true for the 2009's that was speculated in the threads.

This being all new to me, it was fun to watch all the speculation for the new models.

More important than what, is who? Who had the goods and who was way off the mark.

We should lift up those that brought the goods and make sure we listen to them next year.

1) 3rd year for the Springer :shocked2:, what makes you think there won't be a 5th year for the SEUC?

2) SERG4 with real bird and shark fins to replace the bag and fender skirts.

3) Sissy Bo . . . . uh, I mean, Fat Bob wil return (I guess).

4) Hmmm . . . . keep thinkin' there's gotta be a CVO Sportster sometime, maybe next year to replace the Springer. :nixweiss:

CVO Trike will have to wait for all of us to get another 10-20 years older before it makes sense, so I don't think that one's happening.

I beg to differ on the Sportster. The typical CVO accessories would make it way to expensive for what it actually is.

I think you will continue to see a SEUC in the lineup for the forseeable future, for no other reason than the fact it is a cash cow for the MoCo.  The regular Ultra is already an extremely profitable product for them, and a big part of the extra $10k+ they charge the dealer for the SE version is just extra profit.  Until just recently, the eglides were the only SE models that didn't tend to sit in showrooms at all.  For that reason alone the dealers will lobby to continue the series.

A FLHX version would probably come out very similar to the SEEG's, which could be a very good thing if they keep the price reasonable.  I only see this as a possibility if they eliminate either the SEUC or SERG, no way they would do three touring models at the same time. :confused5:

I'm with 103Thunder on the Sportster idea.  Way past time for a SE version of that icon.

Maybe a SE version of their newest acquisition, an MV Augusta.  Wonder how much of a price bump they would put on something that already costs over $100k?

Louis, I hate to tell you but the typical CVO accessories and huge markup make all the SE bikes too expensive for what they really are.  $30-35k USD for something that doesn't perform as well as a $20-25k USD competitor, and with abysmal reliability and quality thrown in, says an awful lot about the folks who buy these things.  Don't forget, this is the same generation that used to spend good money on stuff like "Pet Rocks".  It's all about image, not real value.

I think a Sportster could be done with just some performance upgrades and minor appearance items like paint and wheels for a relatively modest price increase.  A full blown CVO treatment would be overkill for sure.

New for 2010...the continuing leaky oil pan gasket caused excessive heat generated by the 2-1-2 piping.  :P

It'll bug the hell out of them.  They'll strip it and paint it.  If they do as well with updating a paint scheme as Chuck did with his that kind of a circumstance will be where we'll finally see what a SERG3 should have actually looked like.

...or wait and pick up a 00 orange/black outer fairing, lowers, chopped tour pack and the rest of it on e-bay before BB gets em. :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2: Doc

Twolane I think that the SE Ultra is here to stay.  It's a cash cow for the factory.

The SEUC3 did surprise me.  A SEUC5 would even more.  Though not greatly :coolblue: .

Not necessarily.... BMW and I believe Honda also have proprietary Zumo's.

I'd be thinking along the lines of a SERG fully dressed out with the necessary long haul items, SEUC will be gone.  This year, the SERG is more of a hod rod style bike. So next year it will take over the SEUC's long hauling capabilities and the FLHXSE, or SE Street glide will be the hot rodder for around towners.  Also I predict this will be the last year for the Fat Bob altogether.  Look for the Rocker as next years bar hopper instead of the Springer.  A dyna, probably the street bob, they changed the fender on it, it really looks like a custom deal.  So my predictions will be
SERG- Fully dressed
SESG- Hot rod
SERO-Rocker, bar hopper for soft tails
and
SESB- Street bob, or only because of the price and lack of a better term, "entry level cvo"

The two bikes I'd really like to see in CVO fashion are the Rocker C and the Nightster. If they could cram a 103" in the Nightster that would be one hell of a performance machine.

So my predictions will be
SERG- Fully dressed
SESG- Hot rod

Or, maybe.....   The SEUC line does finally end and the SERG begins a four year run rather than a two year sprint.  Since it is so spartan to begin with they could add lowers one year, tour pak another and full blown CB/Audio pack another to take three or four cycles to move it to a full dress mode.  Somewhere along that line add the water jacket and radiator to make it the highlight introductory piece for a new engine.
