Or, maybe.....   The SEUC line does finally end and the SERG begins a four year run rather than a two year sprint.  Since it is so spartan to begin with they could add lowers one year, tour pak another and full blown CB/Audio pack another to take three or four cycles to move it to a full dress mode.  Somewhere along that line add the water jacket and radiator to make it the highlight introductory piece for a new engine.

4) Hmmm . . . . keep thinkin' there's gotta be a CVO Sportster sometime, maybe next year to replace the Springer. :nixweiss:

Back to the CVO Sportster idea, I highly doubt it would happen but what if HD put the Buell 1125R motor in a Sportster frame and gave it to the CVO?  That might make a very expensive Sportster justifiable in the market.

"Rather than design the Helicon engine to fit a specific displacement category or racing classification, Buell developed this powertrain to meet a customer experience specification, both in terms of its power output and its contribution to the overall performance of the Buell 1125R. The engine produces 146 crankshaft horsepower at 9800 rpm and 82 ft. lbs. of peak torque at 8000 rpm. Redline is 10500 rpm. Its generous 1125cc displacement allows the Helicon engine to make abundant peak power with a broad powerband and flat torque curve free of dips and weak spots. The Helicon engine is designed to make useable power across the entire RPM range that will enhance any riding experience."

Of course, this would mean the CVO would be making something not in the current production lineup that would require some addidtional actual engineering so I know it's next to impossible, but it's a hope thought.

I think a Sportster could be done with just some performance upgrades and minor appearance items like paint and wheels for a relatively modest price increase.  A full blown CVO treatment would be overkill for sure.

Why not a Sportster? Your talking about a whole group of people who may think that the "big" HD's are just that - big - or too big.

My son just bought a 08 Nightster last week (couldn't get him to wait until this week).
Being a PharmD meant it was not a cash issue - just the thought of the big bikes being too big, that and the Nightster being his first bike.

He has always admired my red bike and I'm sure if the Nightster or similar had a CVO badge and appropriate trim he would have been hooked.

For the little that is on a Sportster, a full blown CVO treatment would probably not be that much of an increase, compared to say a standard EG to a SEUC (20,000 - 36,000)

Did anyone else notice that the MOCO droped the Dyna Wide Glide from the 09 line up? I wonder if they dont replace it next year with something new and do a CVO based on the new design.

Not much different from a V-Rod.  84 ft-lbs at 7000RPM there.

I'd bet against good odds the SERG will get a chopped tour pak.  Less sangine about the lowers though.  They're fighting heat everywhere they can.  Unless we see radiators also I'd expect lowers to be on as few bikes as possible as part of the overall mission to meet EPA requirements.

Also not sure about a SESG and SERG at the same time next year.  They've gotten accustomed to having a full blown high dollar touring model in the line.  They've beat the SEUC to death.  The trike doesn't seem an outlandish next step.

I'm sure the tourpak will be in the acc catalog, just to add more expenses to an already expensive bike, maybe a chopped like the SEEG's in the 2nd year so most will end up buying the king, seems like a silly idea though, who would take off an included tourpak and replace just just to have one big enough to hold a helmet  :nixweiss:

I think the biggest improvement on the RG would be to get rid of the cheesy looking (at least in the pictures) bag extensions. Either do it right or not at all.

2010 Harley Davidson Screamin Eagle line-up: (Bookmark this prediction and check me in 364 days ;) )

2010 SEUC5:  MoCo is making way too much money to abandon the SEUC (Will probably never see a SE Streetglide, since the SEUC is such a money maker and a decent platform for those that want to modify to get a SE Streetglide).

2010 SE Heritage:  Too many folks been waiting for this one.  The 2010 SE Heritage will most likely be so popular that the MoCo will have a three year run with it.

2010 SE Rocker C:  The 2008 & 2009 Rockers have been very will accepted and the MoCo will capitalize on the opportunity with the SE Rocker C.

2010 SERG:  The return of the SE Roadglide in the Screamin Eagle line-up for 2009 will be fairly well accepted, mostly due to it's long awaited return to the CVO line.  The MoCo will ditch the lame extentions on the saddlebags and rear fender and redesign the paint scheme.

New for 2010...the continuing leaky oil pan gasket caused excessive heat generated by the 2-1-2 piping.  :P

Late half catalog  2009: Lower Exhaust crossover enhancement plate. Black.  $179.95  Mounts conveniently under the lower exhaust crossover to allow for motorcycle jack placement as well as prevent the impact of road debris on the crossover pipe.

In other words, a frikken' skid plate.

What a wonderful idea - design a system prone to damage and make an accessory for it, and at a buck -80 to boot  :2vrolijk_21:

Glad nothing in the new model line up causes me any stir - still think my 05 is just fine and still looking for the "just right"  06 V

Agreed on all with the exception of the Rocker.  Think they will pick "something very different" but at this point not sure what.

Street Glide riders will be bummed for another year, no CVO for them - yet.

If that shows up in an 09 catalog at a buck 80, Ima gonna sue the MoCo for stealin' my ideer.

Nothing in the 09s that will cause me to go to market for a HD. At this point I want to see what their REALLY big plans are - around 2010-2012.
