Dammit Chip.  I will have a heckuva time teaching East Indians to speak Cantonese to explain those Chinese  Hahweh parts.  Maybe I should hire a few Koreans to explain it to them?   :nixweiss:

I always seem to get someone from the Bahama's or some other tiny island that can't speak english. I feel like I'm talking to Bob Marley

There is a better than 50% chance they have been smoking what Bob Marley smoked, too.

Sometimes when I get person on the phone for some service issue that is struggling to read their script which was translated from Pashto or something like that, I just hang up & play what I call Customer Service Lottery".  Keep dialing until I get somebody who can speak English & at least pretend to understand what I am saying. Yes, I am an ugly American.   :pepper:

Karen & Sue are very popular over there, too.

Would a short story about a randy peacemongering Tibetan llama called "Hello Dolly Llama" be considered un-PC?

The truth is ----motorcycles are expensive to operate. My other vehicle is a crew cab 4wd ford diesel -------you know that story. Between 8 and 14 mpg depending on if I'm pulling or not and 4.50 diesel. My bike on the other hand gets on average about 35 mpg on 4.00 fuel . It still costs more per mile to drive the bike. Tires cost the same , bike or truck ----but the bike tires last about 10k and the truck tires last 50 or better. If you maintain your bike right and add up all the chrome and performance goodies that we/I buy , well the bike costs more. Doesn't change my lifestyle , just thought I'd point that out . You could buy a Jap bike but what fun would that be. All that said , it does alarm me that the touring bikes now cost more than my truck by the time you get em all fixed up like you like em. I just don't understand how they can cost that much!

Now, I don't know if you are poor or as Rich as Bill Gates...BUT your comment makes it sound like you wanted a CVO and couldn't afford it and so you read these threads to get your 'jollies" when the folks that "could afford them" have problems....or in other words...YOU didn't have the money ( or your wife wouldn't let you spend it) and you are  just  "JEALOUS"  We paid enough to have "bitchin rights" and we are going to get 'em fixed.  So There!!!!

I've calculated the amount of money I've saved driving my bike the 50 mile round trip instead of my gas powered truck to work.  It adds up to 600 dollars so far this year with a rideing rate of about 65% of the days.  The back tire lasts 10k if you're hard on it.  I'm over 20k and will get close to 25k out of the front.  Since that means in 50k on the bike I will have 5 back and two front I'm still ony at twice what I've spent on my truck.  I'll have saved easily that amount in gas.  The cost of the oil changes is slightly higher on the bike and using synthetic oil I change them all at 5k.  All in all I think it's about a break even.

However, the real savings is in the money I don't spend on shrinks and divorce lawyers since my head is in much better shape from riding the bike rather then driving the cage!

Ride Safe,

THIS IS MY FIRST AND ONLY HARLEY.  I HAVE OVER $40,000 IN THE THING AND HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS:

HARLEY BUILDS BEAUTIFUL BIKES...PERHAPS THE BEST LOOKING MADE

HARLEY'S ARE GREAT FOR SOUNDING "GOOD"....SCARING CHICKENS...SETTING OFF CAR ALARMS...GETTING ATTENTION

HARLEY'S ARE NOT BUILT TO BE TROUBLE FREE AND GET GOOD SERVICE

DEALERSHIPS ARE USUALLY VERY HELPFUL...COURSE THEY SHOULD BE...THEIR SHOPS ARE ALWAYS FULL OF BROKEN DOWN MONEY MAKERS

THE MANUFACTURER STANDS BEHIND THEIR BIKES....SO FAR BEHIND THAT YOU CAN'T FIND THEM

HARLEY DEPENDS ON A CULT LIKE FOLLOWING.....CAUSE IF FOLKS BOUGHT THEM FOR QUALITY AND RELIABILITY...HARLEY WOULD ALREADY BE OUT OF BUSINESS.  THEIR "FAMOUS AD CAMPAIGN" BY A HIGH PRICED NY ADVERTISING FIRM IS WHAT SAVED THEM (NOT THEIR ENGINEERING).  THE FIRM WANTED TO MAKE THE NAME HARLEY DAVIDSON A BRAND THAT EVERYONE WANTED....AND THEY SUCCEDED.

WITH THE CRAP THEY ARE SELLING....SEEMS TO ME THAT THEY SHOULD PAY MORE ATTENTION TO THOSE THAT ARE SHELLING OUT THE BUCKS TO BUY THIS JUNK.   SOONER OR LATER,  FOLKS ARE GOING TO GET TIRED OF GETTING RIPPED OFF AND STOP PLACING SO MUCH IMPHASIS ON A MACHING MADE TO LOOK GOOD AND SCARE CHICKENS.

Just found this site today,  most of you guys are right on.  Motorcycles are a passion,  riding Harley's is a religion.

I just picked up a 2008 SE Ultra,  had to trade my 02 Ultra to do the deal.  I'll be checking this site to keep up on all the latest news.

I'm a retired Quality Engineer and can relate to the concerns and disappointment with poor quality and customer service.  Count on me to support driving improvements through the Motor Company.

I've been lucky with my bikes so far, hope it keeps up.

Although the money is of course important, for me the best explanation is that you drive a car but ride a motorcycle,

Update on "110 off-idle stalling."
FYI:
I had my 1000 mile service performed last week and had an interesting conversation with the young tech.
He feels the (EITMS) Temp Management System is defaulting to on (Green) after shut down.
This would mean you must perform the Enable/Disable procedure at each start up.
The system should default to off (Red) but this may not be the case.

My bike is warm idling at 1000 RPM, that means the rear cylinder will cut out with Engine temp greater than 287 degrees.

I put 100 + miles in this weekend and the freak-in thing appeared to work without the off-idle stalling.
However, It was a much cooler day and most of the ride was in the beach area, so I'm reserving a resolve until another local ride.

Ciao,
Ron

I read this topic last night and thought about it all day. I really want to add my $.02.
A dedicated hotline for CVO owners may seem like a good idea (especially for CVO Owners) but is it really? There is already a huge divide between the have's and have not's. Creating more services for the have's will only serve to widen this gap.  Just because I had a few extra dollars, and choose to use it to buy a fancy motorcycle doesn't mean I am more deserving than the kid who bought his first sporty. Should CVO owners also get to bump non CVO owners for service? I say NO! We should all get the same crappy service.
