The parts catalouge says the intake valves are 2.125" and the springs can handle up to a 650 lift cam. They sound like they might be pretty good heads just wonder who the guine pig is gona be?

Just ever so slightly larger than the 110+ heads. The CR is the same as stock, 9.3:1, for these and the ACR Perf. heads too. The SE pistons give ya the option of 10.5:1. Or you could mill just a little and use Cometic .030's w/ flatops, for something in between! ;)

saw a review of these new heads by "dewey's heads" and he says ports are way too big, valves are way too big, better suited for 124"+...save your money!

hard 10,

Are you just doing the 251 cams or are you gona do the 10.5 pistons as well?

Oilcan,
I'd like to do just the cams. I don't think I'm alone in saying that all I really wanted is a little more performance. I figure that because the dealer has to replace the heads on the MoCo's dime, this would be a good time to do the cams and get some more performance. If the heads did not have to be done, I don''t think myself or some others would bother. I've spent enough money on the bike already and it is running fine. Will I throw a couple hundred bucks at it for some more performance, YES. Do I want to build a race engine for a few thousand, NO.

Doing cams don't necessarily have anything to do with the heads. You can replace the cams with the heads undisturbed on the engine if ya just want cams. Don't give us them BS excuses AJ! ::) ;D ;)

Is it, or is it not, less expensive to do the cams while HD has to replace the heads?

Not! The cams are in the camplate, which must be removed to replace them. I'd replace the cam bearings too while I was in there. But they don't have to touch that stuff to do the heads. And they can change cams without removing the heads. Unless you work some kinda deal with them, they're 2 separate jobs. But at least you get all your work done at once that way! ;)

Okay, let's go back to the parts needed.

                                                              Original Equipment
Type of Cam Installed                                 103+ Heads           110+ Heads             Kompressor Heads
SE255                                                      18400-03              18402-03               18403-03
SE251                                                      18401-03              18400-03               18402-03

Is this right? We have the 255's already installed?
This would lead me to believe that one does NOT have to change rods?

SE-251 CAM KIT*
This camshaft is a high lift version of the SE-211 camshaft.
As such, it works great with 103" and larger engines with
free flowing intake and exhaust. It can be used with stock
heads updated with race springs and high compression
pistons to get even more torque than a SE-211 cam or
couple it with any of the performance heads to realize the
full power potential of this cam. This cam is used in the 103"
Stage 3 Race Kit. For race application only.
25121-03 $269.95
Fits ’99-’05 Dyna®, ’00-’06 Softail® and
’99-’06 Touring models.

*CAUTION: Requires use of Screamin’ Eagle Valve Spring Kit
and appropriate Screamin Eagle Pushrods for installation and
to ensure proper clearance. Failure to comply may result in
engine damage.
