Ask your dealer if he has any used stock y-pipes laying around...
They must have changed a set of pipes or 2 lately!
2 weeks for a common part?
Brad
My thought exactly. I guess this dealer has never installed a set of Rinehardts or V&H Duals. And unless someone has been stealing pipes from the warehouse to sell for scrap, like folks have been stealing catalytic convertors and copper wiring, I seriously doubt it really takes two weeks to get a headpipe. What may be happening is what happened to me a few years back on a special order; the dealership held the order until it had a large number of parts to order, and then included everything on their regular stock order. There are different order methods, with the regular stock orders being slowest but cheaper for the dealer, then different levels of "special" orders that involve loss of dealer discounts or actual surcharges.
Needless to say, I never had that particular dealer order another part for me, after letting him know what I thought of his cheap chit way of doing business. If I remember correctly, I was paying full MSRP for a seat and backrest, but waiting a month so the dealer could get a 10% discount that he didn't pass along. The only reason I stumbled onto the real issue was my background in automotive parts and service, and a parts counter guy accidently letting me see the order records. Gotta love those dealers.
