Wore a flat spot on a Feuling Lifter wheel, and wiped out the cams too Mike!!! All that metal dust is in there somewhere, contaminating everything now!  Gotta rebuild the motor again to be sure there's no chance of any particles left inside! Going with S&S 625G cam, and a few other goodies! ;)

Howie;
Yes on the comp upgrade, no on the SE clutch hub. I had an earlier version of this hub disinigrate, Also the spring pressure is VERY hard and kills the clutch hand, even with the lite pull ramp assembly. For the clutch put in a pro-clutch from Rivera Engineering and be done with it they have a new version for use with the hydro clutch.  8)

Thanks for the heads up Jim. Just the kinda input I'm looking for! Rivera makes it for '07's now? Complete with hub or using stock hub? On my '85, they use the stock hub. Would like to ugrade as an assembly if I can. ;)

I STILL THINK IT WAS THE DINO OIL THAT CAUSED THE PROBELM!!!!!

Poor Cybil's motor needs all of the help she can get. The easiest time in her short life was when Twolane took her around the block!!!!! :orange: :orange: :orange: :orange:

Change to SYN OIL!!!!!! It does a motor good!!!!  :pumpkin: :pumpkin: :pumpkin:

BS!! BS!! BS!!! Not the oil. The noise started when it still ran with syncrap in it! I think the dino I changed to prolonged the failure time, and got me home from MV. Runs cooler with better oil pressure with the dino oil!!! FTS!!! :P ;D ;)

I'm with you howie...switched from 20/50 syn to straight 50 dino...valvetrain noise is gone...dino is recommended by lots of folks who build with aggressive cams and heavy valvesprings...oil cooler is good idea too

It is a whole new clutch hub assembly. You press it into the stock clutch shell.

That's how it was on my 4-speed to Jim. How's the strength of the stock shell though? I've already replaced it once due to broken ring gear. :nixweiss:

Howie,
I get a kick out of everything you've done in search of perfection.   ;)  I'm running a basic stock 110 (just a few external mods), have only had to replace the head gaskets once (apparently got the right ones the first time), debating on whether to do the "performance upgrade" at all, and my baby runs strong and just fine.  (Of course I'm not into drag racing, just getting on the road and enjoying the ride.  Not that there's anything wrong with drag racing, mind you.   ;) )  I've invested about two grand in upgrades to my bike and am happier than a pig in chit with how she performs, and so far I've got longevity also.   I really think that you should write off the 6-8 grand you've invested in this engine, and just drop a JIMS 120 or 131 into your ride.  (I know you want the matching VINs, but I don't think you're ever going to be satisfied with the builds you're doing.)  Now if you've got bottomless pockets, then keep doing what you're doing, eventually (after about 20K) you'll come up with "the build".   Not slammin what you're doing bro, but I think you'd have been better off going the route Ken did and just drop a new JIMS in.  (Performance with reliability already built in at the factory).   JMHumbleO.

Not convinced of that either Charlie. What I SHOULD'A done was have Vern build an S&S motor from my cases right from the start, instead of getting sucked into the "fix it under w.....ty using CycleRama parts" routine I went thru that started this whole mess! Should'a said FTW right from the get go! You gotta pay if you wanna play! I'll take S&S over Jim's anyday of the week. Now it will be an S&S motor with Axtell barrels and modified 110 heads. And to do this now, considering all options, is by far still the cheapest way to go! ;)

HOWIE you know I am just busting your balls on the synthetic oil. I do prefer to run it but I also don't run the balls off of Ole Punkin. I was thinking about what happened to your motor. What lifters were you runnning? The only ones I know that there were a problem with were the Jim's and SE. And Jims make the HD SE lifters. I am running fueling in mine. So far so good. I do bust it in the A$$ every once in a while. I have been very happy with the valve train in this motor. I think we need to talk. BTW I did tell you before I think you are making a great choice in cams for your build.

S&S makes great stuff.  Been out there a long time and have gotten it right, for the most part.  If they built a mil to drop into your frame, that's the route I would go.  FTV (VIN) match :)

First thing I looked for Charlie! But the MoCo has locked up their newest design since '06 Dynas with the patents restricting anyone from making an engine that mates with our primaries and trannys! Only Jim's who's in bed with the MoCo can offer ANYTHING for an motor replacement. Another reason to steer clear from Jim's! FTF!!! ;)
