Just thinking out loud here......

Does anybody know or noticed if there is any connection with those getting/not getting the parts in relationship to how many CVO's that particular dealer sold? Just wondering if the MoCo has some kind of distribution system that is shipping them in order (priority) of how many CVO's a dealership has sold. :nixweiss:

I don't know - but I don't think so...

My dealer is rated in the top 5 in CVO sales...  They ordered the "product enhancement" heads for me 6 weeks ago and still have no idea when they will arrive.

It makes no difference to me when they arrive, as they will only go on a shelf in the garage...   :nixweiss:   but it would seem that sales volume is not part of the equation...

... My dealer said heads are on back order also. :soapbox:
How the f does that happen. :nixweiss: :nixweiss: :nixweiss:
Poor planing...
My grips are not working right either, my shop stated those are on back order... but this piece of chit, It needs more attention than my old lady.
And as for the book, ...
Now I am sure all the loyal MOCO people on this site will tell me to calm down, they are doing all they can, be patient, trust them, they will get it right.   BULLCHIT.
Dave

I for one am not going to tell you to calm down. The fact that they sent out a letter to everyone acknowledging a problem and that a fix was available should indicate that they were prepared to handle all of the requests for replacement. This is unacceptable! As a manufacturing company, they should have made sure there were enough parts to do a majority of the work!
You would think that they would take care of the people on this site first, being we are the most vocal about their product. How many times have we read on this site that a potential person did not buy a HD motorcycle because of what was posted and discussed here. Knowing that they read this board, it would make good business sense to keep us happy. How hard would it be to figure out what our names were and contact us? Rjobs posted a link to a Dodge forum about the SRT Charger. I looked at it and there was the company, online, interacting with the consumer and answering questions. In this month's email from Leah Steger (Manager, Panel Relations) of the Harley Advisory Panel they specially asked what internet forum each of us used. If they want this information, why don't they put it to use and come here to answer these questions from the people that buy their most expensive products?
I know this is a Saturday afternoon and this post will get "lost" amongst all of the new posts that the MoCo will read come Monday morning.
With that said Dave, my grips went out as well at the beginning of the season. They were replaced under warranty. Just as a side note, besides my local Dealer having a "back log" on the 0905 product improvement, they are saying the service department is 3 weeks behind.

Thank you Chip.

You know, things have to work their course and an acknowledgement of that from the MOCO would be great.
I appreciate you AJ!

I have same  ACR issue, starter will need attention, same as yours.
No seeping at case bolt though, just rear head next to exhaust port.
My dealer service has been fast and good in all other cases, so I assume they are not bullchitting me on this one.
Wounder why some can't seem to get the parts, while others can???????????????????
Good Luck with recall, and upgrades.
I am not going with pistons, just shaving the heads if able to.
Dave

Dave,

Good luck to you as well. My heads were fine after the first rebuild - hope the same for yours.

Not sure why my dealer has been able to get the needed parts easily compared to other dealers (this is the second time they got parts quickly) for the engine tear down on this bike.  Back in May there were complaints of dealers not being able to get parts due to the large number of 110 issues.  Now we read the same thing in October.  Some dealers are better on parts & service than others - no doubt.  Some go to extra efforts as well & possibly it is their having a better relationship with the MoCo but in this case I think it may be different from that somewhat.

The service dept gets 5 hours time for this beauty makeover "enhancement".  My guess is it would take closer to 6 1/2 to 7 hours, done right, with care.  So the dealer has to either eat 2 hours labor or the tech gets screwed on his hourly job rate.  Maybe a little of both - probably varies dealer to dealer.  Some shops are busier than others, some are more customer friendly than others.  The "straight" warranty work is not as much profit for the shop doing this work compared to an engine getting a non warranty rebuild.  Compare the friendly customer service minded shop vs one that is more profit motivated & that could explain the "parts" delay.  If a shop has less work in colder months, moving this job a few weeks into the future may be a desire on some shops part to just do the work later, due to scheduling.

If the ACRs were not crapping out now on mine I had planned to wait to have this done in January.

I took my bike in two weeks after receiving the letter from H-D, the dealer called to tell me they had reserved the parts for my bike. Went in on Wednesday rode out Friday. 2,100 miles later no problems and a quiet motor.

I've heard several different excuse, ever since I tried to setup an appointment to have the work done the end of August. I even called the MOCO 1st week of October and they told me 88 units (kits) are being shipped each day. I would mine the wait except my head gaskets started leaking and throwing oil all over the case - yuk! My neighbor with the Honda VTX told me AMF Voit must have built it, I'll fix him later......aarrgh!

I talked with service dude today my parts are in. I just need to schedule the enhancement. I kind of hate tear apart a motor thats been running good. I have limited faith my service guys and the total enhancement program. Just shy of 10,000 mile and zero problems.

Hi Muley

My dealer has seven (now 6) sets of heads and doesn't know how they figured where to send them.
