Did he contact Ride-Str8?

O'Fender, again I ask, did your friend contact the manufacturer about his claim that the Ride-Str8 caused the crack?  You've always been a stand-up guy on the site here, so I have no reason to doubt the story, but so far we have no photos and Dan at Ride-Str8 says he has never received any word of one of the units causing an issues like this.

Speaking personally, I would (and will, if it happens) be all over this guy if I feel his product caused a catastophic failure of another part on my bike!  I'll be a bit dumbfounded to hear that your buddy never contacted Ride-Str8 to assist with the repair bill.  Helicoils, $sh!t!  Give me a new transmission case!

O'fender, perhaps what you're not realizing is that everytime this comes up it's not one response.  Upwards of 15 guys are all buying this now with others still considering.  So if it doesn't all get answered as completely and totally and openly up front and at once than there are (and have been) lots and lots of PMs and emails all asking what we know, what do we think, have we learned any more, is there anything to it.

Then if someone stirs the pot again its all got to be addressed all over again.  Not only is it simply more ethical to have an open public record of the facts we are able to gain without inciting or scaring the manufacturer in the process, it's also just a heluva lot more efficent and easier to do one longish post that might answer everyone's question I can think of rather than doing 20 individual responses in PM or email.

As soon as I speak with him I will have some more answers (have lots of questions for him now), I did not realize what a can of worms got opened here so I left a voicemail on his cell, this is a guy who is not really into the whole online thing it's gonna be enough to try and get photos EMAILED

Just to add my.02 I put the true track on my bike in Sturgis and what a differance. I have no problem with scraping and as for the cost its cheap insurance when you consider the price of the bike and may not be able to replace with the same model when you live in Canada like I do  [smiley=banana.gif]

Let me see - I just spent $480 for the RideStr8, and two weeks later it caused my oil pan to break at a cost of god knows what from the friendly Harley shop.  Let's guess about a $200-300 total repair.  And I don't contact the manufacturer and raise holy hell?

Good thing I still believe in the easter bunny and the tooth fairy.

Thanks Hotline.  I think a lot of us are like HD2NV wrote above.  We just figure that one or the other of the devices is good insurance.  Every time I read where someone like HD2NV has felt either of the devices made a difference for their bikes I'm happier a bunch of got together and got something.

Keep your fingers crossed, you might even have yours this weekend.  FedEx is scheduled to bring the rest here on Thursday.  If that happens and I can get them back out the same day Plano is normally only a two day ship from here  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

I don't follow that statement.  The H.D. upper stabilizer mounts to the left side of the cylinder heads, not the center, and the other end mounts to a bracket to the right of the center line.  The stationary end of the lower link mounts to a bracket to the left side of the center line.  Nothing different than running a link from the trans to the right side of the frame.  Am I missing something here?

No  I dont think you are.  The front mount is in the CENTER of the bike and attached at the lower LEFT. The top mount is from just left of center to just right of center...or centered over the top as best as possible cause of that intake thing we need to have. The True-Trac is a mirror image of the front lower mount. CENTERED on the pan and attached to the RIGHT side of the frame.

My point is that the Ride Str8 also mounts to the side-to-side centerline of the trans, just like the True Track; see this photo  http://flhrsei.org/attachments/Install_05.JPG   Therefore, the original statement still makes no sense to me.  The only difference is the fore-aft location chosen by the two manufacturers, and both are acceptable to achieve the desired results.  The Ride Str8 just does it without interfering with other components such as the center stand I intend to install.

O'Fender, another question to ask of your buddy when you finally get to talk to him is did he do the install himself and did he use a quality torque wrench to tighten the pan bolts to spec?  Thanks again for trying to shed any light on the subject. [smiley=beerchug.gif]

If anyone has sent an email to Ride Str8 using the handle "Big Blue" and the name Mike you need to contact him again.  The email address you left didn't work.

Someone contacted Ride Stra8 asking to take part in the group buy individually as described here earlier in the thread.  But the contact information you left with the company isn't good.  Please try again.
