Again, thanks guys. Went to the Dr yesterday afternoon, torn ACL, and slight rip in the LCL, but doctor said that the knee joint is stable, so unless I want to be an receiver in the NFL I shouldn't require surgery. Just crutches for a while.

I was fortunate, some skill, dumb luck, and the grace of God have saved my sorry butt again!

Just wanted to send a prayer and wish of good luck to those who went down this year and are in the process of recovering. My injury is very small, but has already been a pain, I can't imagine the long slow process of some of you who received major injuries.

Hi - Reid Hannan from Victoria Canada - on a related theme I had my "compensator" blow on me at 60mph the other day, everything locks up RIGHT NOW!  No warning, maybe 2-3 seconds of rattling and then the back tire just locked, I skidded for about 50 yds and then thinking the back tire had blown I engaged the clutch, that saved me as I then coasted to a stop off the busy 2 lane highway.  I then realized that it was the engine/tranny that was gone, the damage inside the primary was unbelievable.  From what I can find this is not uncommon, some have had a "knocking" sound as a warning and others a new vibration and others no warning at all.  I would suggest getting the compensator checked at all regular service intervals and re-torqued if required.  At the moment we're negotiating over rebuild or new engine/tranny or a new bike.
This failure in many other circumstances would have been tragic.

Hey Craig - close call buddy, but pleased to hear you didn't make a full contact. Hope the knee gets better soon and remember - Knob Creek dulls the pain.

Craig, sorry to hear of the trauma from the near accident. 

I think we've all stabbed a foot down for various reasons at some time.

I tore the heck out of my ankle and knee in Nelson at the GTG over a year ago.  Still show a dark spot where I kicked my shin on the handlebar bailing off.  It takes a bit of time but the stretched and torn stuff heals pretty quickly.

Sorry to hear about your incident, or was that near accident :nixweiss:, but great you kept it upright and that no major surgery will be needed. Not a whole damn lot we can do to avoid cagers turning left in front of us......I trust none of them as a rule. Get better quickly!

Thanks guys, I almost back to normal, what ever that is! ;D I still have a slight limp, but am working on it at the gym. I can ride! I was back on the bike three weeks later, until my wife found out! Now I have the Dr's OK to get back on!  :2vrolijk_21:

This was only a small mishap, I just want to send a blanket get well to the guys who have had major accidents and injury's last season!

Thanks, guys! Still limping a little, go back to the Doc today. Not sure if I'm having the ACL repaired or not. Probably wait another month, it has been improving all the time, but still feels a little unstable at times.

Thanks again, don't think the wife will fall for that. She was really gratefull the days after it happened, telling everyone she was glad I saves us from a fall, but in the same breath she said he was just worried about his bike!  ::) :2vrolijk_21:
